After KRTS toured his successful LP The Dread of an Unknown Evil, left with only one pair of boots and a few spare clothes of baggage, KRTS obtained his visa and began a new life as The Foreigner in Germany.

The Foreigner is looking through an alien's eyes from the first step of landing on new soil. The outsider position - Not knowing the language, direction, new set of rules, personalities, and learning how to become a part of a new society.

KRTS's often approach to music creation normally follows zero rules and boundaries of genres. This time, KRTS welds together influences of genres but, places them in a bubble of hard hitting Boom-Bap HipHop percussions, thumping bass-lines, and combines a melodramatic set of layered vocals sung by KRTS with rows of melodies that weave in and out creating various atmospheres within one song. As if creating different cities inside one country.

This is one of those things where I experiment and sketch a thing out in a couple of hours and then ultimately don’t do anything with it. I considered adding some vocals but that would make it a bit more industrialized metal than I might be ready for. Regardless it was an interesting experiment. 

In case you are curious: The bass signal chain is EHX big muff Pi > DOD Bass Flanger FX72 > EHX Super ego > Boss Hypermetal. The drum bits are the Elektron machinedrum run through audio damage Grind with a little EQ / compression for fun. Oh, and the drone bits are the bass part pitched, stretched and layered a few times. It’s dark in here.

Apollo welcomes the return of Sieren

Matthias Frick AKA Sieren returns to Apollo with his most personal EP to date.

The ‘Fading Memory EP’ showcases Frick’s blissed out post bass atmospherics as they delve deep into bittersweet emotions and dissolving memories.

’Move On’ opens the release, with cycling plagent pads, are counterpointed by dark bass and bumping percussion, ‘In Limbo’ introduces nervous unease through swelling side chained 2-step drums hissing ambiance and crystalline pads. ‘Break Sum 1’ provides the EP’s most heartfelt moment, yearning vocals and an uplifting melodic synth figure glisten with light for a beautiful soundscape. ‘Two Faces’ keeps the mood reflective with ‘verb drenched pads punctured by skittering, playful drum programming. ‘Dissolve’ rounds out the EP in similarly emotive territory, angelic yet melancholic and cycling female vocals.

This is richly textured and intricately programmed electronica sure to satisfy fans of Burial, dBridge, Synkro with its soulful sincerity and warmth.

Hybrid, mutated strains of rave music with influence from the sounds of Detroit, London and Berlin  – @aquarian makes raw, arresting and immediate music aimed squarely at the dance floor. His sound draws from both sides of the Atlantic, combining Drexcyian electro, old school jungle and UK grime with vertical singularity. Forth’s Various Artists Vol. 2 is an exploration of the escapism within electronic music. Curated with thought and precision, we aimed for a balanced and purposeful touch of breaks, IDM and techno among a gritty palette of otherworldly sounds. It’s the second rendition in a series that aims to represent another full stack lineup of artists from Toronto, which now includes: Aquarian (Bedouin Records, UNO NYC), E-Saggila (Bank Records, Summer Isle), Basic Soul Unit (Creme Organization, Dekmantel), alongside Forth collective’s City Dance Corporation (Forth) & TYVYT-IYTYI (Pinkman, Forth).

Forth is a music collective from Toronto comprising of Hadi Mousattat, Lukas Switlicki, Joel Eel and Mark Hill. Having started out throwing DIY style raves, we became influenced by the city's hunger for self-expression.
