House & Jazz mix - Homenaje a Julio C.

En este set las bases percusivas del House nos invitan a bailar y se mezclan con los elementos y texturas clásicos del Jazz (🎷 , 🎹 , 🎸y +).

El House fue desde sus inicios la música de fondo para el encuentro abierto y fraternal de la cultura afro, latina, LGBTIX en la Chicago de inicios de la década de 1980. 

Simultáneamente crecía la música electrónica en Detroit, cuna del techno que retumbaba en las fábricas abandonadas por la deslocalización industrial de la época. 

En Berlin también nacía otro tipo de techno al mismo tiempo, en el Reino Unido otras variantes de la música electrónica, que de la mano de Dona Summer y Giorgio Moroder ya se empezaba a filtrar en el gran público masivo con el clásico "I feel love" (1977), identificado como el primer track comercial puramente electrónico de la historia.

Los galpones abandonados por el capital en los EEUU eran llenados por jóvenes, principalmente afroamericanos en un comienzo, y justamente de ahí viene el nombre del género: Warehouse (almacén). 

Al igual que el jazz, el House se ha nutrido y mezclado con todo tipo de géneros tales como el soul, el funk, el blues, el rock, el gospel, la música de origen africana en general, y ya en este siglo con la música latina, árabe, el flamenco, la música clásica y todo lo que se puedan imaginar, y mucho más que aún no hemos descubierto.

A pesar de la imparable expansión de la música electrónica, que la llevado al cine, a publicidades de TV o al main stage de los grandes festivales del mundo; la misma todavía conserva su esencia underground y alternativa. El espíritu de esos jóvenes abandonados por el sistema, reunidos por el ancestral ritual de la danza en comunidad todavía vibra y resuena con cada golpe de bombo...

Por su parte, el jazz también tiene su origen en la cultura afroamericana en los finales del siglo XIX y fue uno de los grandes géneros del siglo pasado. Territorio de grandes maestros y virtuosos, algunos dicen que no es un género para cualquiera, en particular existe la discusión sobre si es apto para niños/as o no.

Cuenta Branford Marsalis, el más grande saxofonista de jazz de todos los tiempos, que su padre Ellis (pianista) ponía esta música en casa y el no la toleraba inicialmente. "El jazz tiene un nivel de sofisticación que es demasiado hip para los niños" afirmó en una entrevista reciente. 

Puedo dar fe que siendo hijo de un fanático del jazz, no logré apreciarlo en toda su dimensión hasta después de los 20 años. Si bien no me generaba rechazo la música, el afán adolescente de romperle las pelotas a mi viejo si me llevó a criticarla en aquellos años. 

También me llevó tiempo entender y disfrutar la música electrónica, gloria que agradezco eternamente a mi primo Martin Beta. Para todxs mis amigxs que alguna vez me compartieron música, les devuelvo este mix, ideal para ordenar la habitación y/o la casa en esta extraña, dolorosa e inolvidable cuarentena.
