OMM Transmission 013 || Moon Patrol @Above Below Festival 2024

Obscure shapes rise in the distance, a haze of smoke obscures all. Movements seem slow and time is but a figment of the imagination. The focus turns inward as a sense of calmness encompasses, letting the mind relax. Overhead the sky is black, but filled with stars, with brief flashes of light as celestial bodies march across the heavenly vista.

This mental imagery springs to mind when listening through Pierre Nesi aka Owl’s forthcoming LP, titled, ‘Fragments of Darkness’ on the storied Korean imprint, Huinali Recordings. A wonderful pairing, and an instant listen whenever either name pops up. Fragments of Darkness will be Owl’s second release, following 2022’s ‘Forest Shadow’. Coincidentally not, another must listen if you’ve not heard already.

Lanterns Illuminate The Infinite Space comes as the final, 7th track to the musical odyssey that Owl has crafted. Beautiful, soft pads lead off and establish a warm atmospheric vibe. The light to the darker moments in the release, the counter that Pierre is so adept at crafting. Ebbing and flowing, the track expands and soon a prominent melody emerges, accented by flashes of synths that give structure and development. 

Fragments of Darkness will be released on May 12th, off of Huinali Recordings, on all platforms.

We're happy to present the next episode of Sonic Spells, provided by the ambient hooligan-wizard Mateusz Grzybowski.

Hailing from Białystok, Poland, Mateusz is closely connected to the local music scene, particularly the iconic FOMO club community. He performs not only at techno-focused events but also at art exhibitions and other interdisciplinary events, where he explores ambient and experimental sounds. Mateusz is also deeply involved in music festivals such as Electrum Up To Date or Monument.

His contribution to the series, in our ears, acts as a display of beauty, mastery and precision of the magic school of air, wind, snow and freeze. And that doesn't mean you're going to be submerged in layers of harsh noise here - the temperature balance Mateusz keeps in the mix is perhaps a presentation of how to keep your soul comfy & warm despite the fact that some of the nature's gifts are not particularly easy to live along with. With the recent winter being an exceptional struggle for myself, I've felt a wave of consolation energy coming my way from this mix and I hope you will be able to feel it as well <3
