For our next instalment of Trommel InSession we present a mix from somewhat of a Renaissance Man. Barcelona-based DJ, producer, label head and Subwax vinyl distribution director Baldo has many many strings to his bow. Having been presenting his musical vision firstly with Neovinyl Recordings and latterly the widely supported Physical Education Baldo has been a major part of the music industry since day one. Also, providing tracks for imprints such as Permanent Vacation, Small Hours, Running Back it is clear from this range of top labels that Baldo has many sounds in his locker.

Speaking with the Subwax boss he explains his part to play in presenting music in advance, “Running a distribution company that helps to manufacture the records gives me the privilege to have access to music months in advance before they are being released.” Baldo goes on to give us the lowdown on his mix, “In the case of this mix most of them are unreleased, and since I've been playing these tracks in my latest gigs I noticed straightaway from the crowd feedback that many of these will be future hits." Stitching together tracks from Man/ipulate, Liquid Earth, the Limousine Dream label, Fio Fa, Occcibel, Alex Kassian Baldo shows just why he is the go to selector for the best parties both home and abroad.

"For this fabric mix, I wanted to stay true to my vision of a DJ set: a selection blending unreleased tracks from UK producers, never-heard tunes from close friends, a few old school gems, and some fresh new releases that really speak to me.

The idea was to craft a mix I could actually play in a club. The hardest part? Trying not to get lost listening to all the unreleased stuff instead of focusing on the mix itself — so much exciting music, it was almost cruel to choose.

I recorded this mix using the Euphonia rotary mixer, which I absolutely love. It brings a different feel to the mix — smoother, deeper, more tactile.

Big thanks to fabric for the trust, and to everyone who contributed to this mix in one way or another.

As gifted on the decks as he is in the studio, CHKLTE approaches music with a delicateness that defies his towering stature. Jonathan began sneaking into South Texas clubs at the age of 15 to DJ after countless hours of digging through online archives. 

CHKLTE is now a resident DJ behind the infamous Blacktone agency & party series that sparked out of Austin Texas, which regularly hosts the likes of Dyed Soundorom, Nicolas Lutz, Francesco Del Garda, tINI, Raresh, Praslea , Lamache and Robin Ordell.
The move from Jonathan to CHKLTE spurred a series of releases on labels such as OGE, We R The Aliens, Personality Disorder, Vatos Locos, Solid Grooves Raw, Moonfruit, Floorpiece Digital, Melotherapy and Honne Music to name a few. He has also launched 2 labels in recent years, a vinyl format label; CHOKO, and ChokoDIGI - a digital label exclusively through bandcamp, where you can find personal edits & originals.

 Now based in Ibiza & hailing from the US he can often be found controlling the dance floors Fabric London, Hi Ibiza, DC-10 Ibiza, Sunwaves Festival in Romania, Epizode & UNUM festivals in Albania, ADE in Amsterdam, Club der Visionaere and Tokyo to name a few.

Sammir is an Argentinian-born artist based in New York City. He spends his time digging through both old and new records, drawing inspiration from the ‘90s and 2000s electronic music movements. His sets blend a wide range of genres—including techno, house, acid, trance, and progressive house—striking the perfect balance between classic and contemporary dance floor sounds. This fusion reflects his deep devotion to the craft and his many years behind the booth.

Over the years, Sammir has shared the stage with artists such as Carrau, DJ Koolt, Binh, Voodoos and Taboos, Giammarco Orsini, Cristian Sarde, and Lorenzo Aribone, to name a few.

The second Various Artists compilation on Undertone brings together eight producers from across the US. Each track contributes a distinct voice, from hypnotic grooves and atmospheric textures to harder-edged percussion and driving low-end. Together, they form a cohesive showcase of the label's direction: forward-thinking, floor-tested, and rooted in the raw energy of different flavors of techno.
