“Impermanence” is the first independently-released single by Portland, OR-based DJ and producer silversound.

Nineties house piano, dubby synth stabs, and a bubbling bassline ride a swishy 909 beat, accented by giddy snare rolls and a snarling Reese bass.

The title, inspired by the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh and Pema Chödrön, honors the acceptance of impermanence as a fact of life, and the gratitude for life’s preciousness that arises from that acceptance.

Here are a few words about the mix from the man himself: 

The mix is a combination of some old 90s tracks I've been obsessed with recently and some new stuff that I think borrows sound from that time. I specifically made this with my brother in mind; to honour the times we had as kids playing outside on the farm in Saskatchewan, with our wild imaginations creating pretend lands and forts in the forest with all the freedom we had to explore in such a small town. Nostalgia and curiosity run deep in this one.

Instrument of Nature (silversound Remix)

This is the set that I played at a festival this summer. The genres and tempos vary and the vibe is very diverse & sassy. It has somewhat of a rebellious vibe and is rhythm focused. The mood changes throughout.

 Its around 125-140 BPM, its a mix of house, techno, breaks, and etc from my collection.

My inspiration for this selection of tracks came from showing up with INTENT, speaking my truth against racism & cultural appropriation, and calling out people for upholding racist behaviors and practices.  Stand up for yourself. Know your roots, your history, your worth. Stand with your community. It Ain't my first rodeo. (but it was probably my last xD)

Self-expression is liberation, be who you are, and don't let ANYONE dim your light or try to make you conform into anything you are not.
