Let’s be clear: I was resident DJ at DCM from 1993 - 1996. Beware of imitations.

Typically I DJ’d Thursday nights - “Late Night Shopping”
I operated the lights every Saturday, although sometimes I’d switch positions and DJ a little bit.
Often DJ’d Sunday nights - “T-Dance”

This mix is recorded from AAD tapes in  1995 (I think it was around Sleaze Ball Recovery) late that year. It’s an old tape nonetheless…

I Remember DCM (Amnesia 1993/94 Mix)

If you went to Blackmarket on Sundays after DCM from 1994-96, you heard my music from 10am until close. I was usually operating the lighting rig at DCM Saturday nights before coming over to Blackmarket to start my DJ set at 10:00am Sunday mornings. 

I always wore my white baseball cap on backwards whenever I DJ’d on Sundays.

This mix is reminiscent of those intimate days during Autumn / Winter of 1995. If you were there, you’d recognise that ubiquitous ‘tribal’ style I played in the late afternoon, before I picked up the pace again until 5:00pm closing.

And yes, sometimes I’d be back at DCM T-Dance to DJ from 6:00pm until close.

For those who knew me well, you’ll know how hard I worked to make your weekends a memorable experience.

I loved DJ-ing at DCM during the ‘heyday’ of house from 1994-95. Truly a golden era.

This mix captures the signature tracks from the summer of 1994 into the early winter of 1995. [February 1994 - June 1995], pretty much as I played them at both DCM and Blackmarket, Sydney every weekend.

Seamless and on-point. It captures EXACTLY how the major nightclubs sounded in mid 1995. If you were there, you were part of a movement. Many thanks to Allan, Tim & Brook, Penny, Margot, Eric and Ben.

Simon began his public DJ career in 1990, appearing in an eclectic mix of  venues including the Imperial (Sydney), Rock Lily (Sydney), MP's (Gold Coast), Connections (Perth) and Pump (Newcastle), playing a funky house / progressive house style. In 1993 he began playing in more venues along the Sydney Strip, including DCM, The Albury, Taxi Club and Midnight Shift. Throughout the 1990s Simon's popular vocal house style, signatured by long transition mixes and infectious rhythms earned him popularity and a strong following in the competitive club environment. He became well-known in venues such as EP1, Blackmarket (Dayclub, Hellfire), DCM and Spike / Byblos. He also played at a number of dance parties in the mid-90s including "Venus 95" and Sleaze Ball in 1996 - 1998. He played on the Gold Coast (The Meeting Place)until it closed.

Simon is a veteran of the ‘old-skool’ House and House-Techno styles. If you’re on the dance floor at one of his gigs, prepare to be transported immediately into a sublime space. He has an uncanny ability to read his crowd, and often times it sounds like he is playing  just to YOU. It’s a refreshing style, and that makes him very unique in the DJ fraternity.

In 2018, Simon started playing at private dance parties at remote beaches along the Upper Eastern Australian coastline. These are the “World Peace” series - the ones before Covid hit our shores. His signature style still embeds him as a true master of House / Emo-house genre.
