In a world that feels increasingly loud and chaotic, one of the most powerful mental-health boosts you can give yourself is gloriously low-tech.

Walking is naturally rhythmic, and I hope that this mix gives your brain a beat to march to. Research shows that when your steps synchronise with music (even loosely), your body releases more endorphins and dopamine—the “feel-good” chemicals and that's got to be a good thing right?

In This 45 minute mix you will get some crooner comfort, some soul resurrection and some hip-hop warmth and is the perfect length for that mental-health reset.

So tomorrow morning (or this afternoon, or tonight), grab your headphones and step outside and press play. The world sounds better at 3.2 mph.

From his first gigs in the 1980s to shaping the West Midlands house scene in the 1990s, Scott Cornwell has always been driven by a love of eclectic sound. Music For Walking Volume 5

Simon is one half of The Back Room with long-time friend Luke Stereo, a 21st-century Balearic acid-disco project connecting sci-fi disco, dub, acid house, balearica, afrobeat, post-punk disco and eastern rhythms. Together they run a venue at Glastonbury Festival and have played Bugged Out, The Egg London, Boomtown, Motion and more.
He is also part of Shimmy Discotheque, the Shindig Festival offshoot offering a house- and disco-led soundtrack. The team delivered the Saturday night set at this year’s Shindig Festival and Lake Paradiso.
A resident for Empathy, one of Bristol’s longest-running club nights, Simon has played with Nick Warren, Sasha & Digweed, Laurent Garnier, Danny Howells, Jody Wisternoff, and Bushwacka. He also appears nationwide with Balearic Burger’s eclectic parties.
