My interpretation of Keith Jarrett's Köln Concert

The worldwide group Piano Soundboard, has issued a challenge for members to compose a tune using the chord progression Dm Am Gm C. Any genre is acceptable as long as these chords are looped over during the complete piece. I chose a Jazz styling & improvised the main piano track, then went back & recorded the upright bass & understate drums. I had a fun time doing this track, so I hope that emotion comes through the music.

Four Play

One of my favorite Brazilian songs, originally titled Águas de Março by Antônio Carlos Jobim, here I based it on the version sung by Stacey Kent - Les Eaux de Mars version. Beautiful bossa nova that talks about impressions of the passing of daily life and its continual, inevitable progression towards death. Lyrics as random as they may seem at first, are all perfectly connected throughout the song. Have a listen and tell me what you all think?

Jazz tenorist Daniel Moran reworks two Coltrane originals and a Rollins classic in the post-bop jazz genre for this demo.  The Jazz standard "Autumn Leaves" is added to balance the set of what can be termed post-modern jazz.  This demo is compiled to whet the listener's appetite for more of this classic genre re-worked and re-visited.  Forthcoming gigs will be posted on the facebook page.

I started off learning piano at around 6 years old, but only realised my ear for music when I could pick out melodies I heard on the radio & from then on I started writing my own music & playing long into the night, to the point where my parents told me to stop so they could go to sleep!
In my teenage years I joined bands & learnt basically on the fly how to work as a group. Once I realised that keyboards were not as portable & able to be played on beaches / around campfires, I taught myself guitar. By adding drums, harmonica & bass to my arsenal, the stage was set for a fully working band to record in my garage. Since setting up my home studio, I love recording a tune each week & especially love collaborating with all the extremely talented musicians on soundcloud. I'm a full time musician, with many different hats in the music community. Including songwriter, composer, live musician & blog writer.
