Simon Shackleton/Elite force

Well *that* was something else. Truly.

This was the fourth successive year I'd played a sunrise on the Playa with my most excellent friends at the Nutz camp, and this year *everyone* upped the bar. The One Series (my vehicle for DJs to express themselves fully through uber-long sets) effectively sprang out of the love & passion for these ethereal mornings at Burning Man, so it seemed fitting that this would become One Playa Sunrise.

As with every year the sun was shining, everyone wore a vast, passionate smile with wonderful sights & sounds filling the air. We were joined by The Dusty Rhino & Painkiller, along with most of Distrikt. It was the perfect morning.

At the end, six intensely wonderful hours later, I dissolved into tears, not for the first time this week & the dancefloor submerged me.

Some friends and I hired a boat in Perth. Tickets sold out in the space of a couple of weeks, and packed to the rafters we cruised the Swanee River in Western Australia under a blood-red setting sun on a perfect summer's evening. 

This is my 3-hour Simon Shackleton set from that night. Recorded 17th January 2014.

For the past two years, I’ve curated playlists of my favorite UK Garage and related genres, discovering fresh sounds that inspired me to create Nova. I wanted a seamless mix of these tracks to enjoy without skipping around throughout Spotify, and I believe mixed music has a unique power to captivate.
 
Nova took a year to complete and is the most work I’ve ever put into a mix. Many tracks lacked DJ-friendly intros and outros, but recent AI advancements allowed me to break them into stems, remix, and edit them for the intentional transitions featured in this mix.

Hi all! Here is my live daytime recording from the Shoogie Boogie camp at unSCruz 2025. I guess I decided to go full old-school funky house which basically meant a lot of DJ Dan tracks from the earlier 2000s with a few newer ones sprinkled in. Shout out to Kue for his super funky tracks "Grimes" (which samples Grimes when she F'd up at Coachella, hilarous) and his remix of Keak Da Sneak's "Super Hyphy" which has an irresistibly booty-shaking bassline. RIP to Rescue, I definitely played a lot of his music and am bummed to miss out on all the future bangin' tracks he would have made. Also shout out to the homie Adamant who is a fantastic producer but very modest about it!

Huge thanks to the Shoogie Boogie crew, y'all are super amazing & awesome and I'm glad our paths have recently crossed. I had a blast playing at your camp.

It's 8am. Black Rock Desert. The previous evening had been electric. It began with a demented set of pure excess on the aptly named Purgatory Cruiser with it's Exocet flame guns and rocket-powered propane ... and then moved onto an epic, spiritual sunrise set on the Robot Heart ...

... and it ended up at the fabulous Nutz camp, surrounded by gorgeous Playa-friends, getting lowdown &amp; dirty until around 11.30am. By the time I'd finished, I'd clocked up over 8-hours of DJaying that evening / morning and could have happily played for another 8 (I was due on again at 6pm, but that's another story!).
So this is my set live, direct and raw, as it happened. Not my typical fayre perhaps, but none of my Burning Man sets are ever 'typical', and this perhaps gives you a different angle on my musical tastes.
