“For my first release in two years, I wanted to create a new classic Tensnake sound - a touch of ‘90s house, but with a modern twist. ‘Rules’ reminds me of some classic Chicago House tracks and the amazing vocals by Chenai lent it that instant feel-good sound. Chenai and I met at a gig in Barcelona a while ago and when I started working on ‘Rules’, I instantly had her in mind for the vocals. Then we hooked up in L.A. while she was touring with Gorgon City and we recorded the whole song in just a few hours. It is one of those songs that came together very quickly and naturally which is always a good sign.”

For 15 years I’ve been releasing two track EPs with a crazy A-side and a much deeper or weirder B-side. Showing a range of sound has always been very important to me. My friend, Wyatt Marshall, collaborated with me on the B-side and also gets credit for turning me on to modular synthesis which is used considerably on both tracks.

We’re bringing together two legendary artists this month on Danny Howard’s Nothing Else Matters imprint, in the form of House heavyweight; Harry Romero and New York’s finest; Joeski with their debut single for the label; ‘Sex Poem’. Collectively, they boast careers spanning more than three decades in the industry with reputable releases on some of the biggest labels in the scene including Toolroom, Defected, Hot Creations, Snatch!, Subliminal and DIRTYBIRD. ‘Sex Poem’ is a dancefloor focused roller, building through intricate percussive rhythms, laid back House drums with hip swinging claps and serene chords underpinned by mesmerizing hypnotic vocals and an infectious bassline. The second Toolroom Trax release of 2020 comes from an exciting collaboration between three renowned artists. Siege, Raumaksutik and Gene Farris have teamed up with 'Circles' - just one of the many fresh projects to land this year on Toolroom's underground sub-label.

Siege and Raumakustik each bring drive, energy and momentum to their productions and DJ sets – they are no strangers to the big room, late-night Trax sound. Fresh from his collaboration with House vocalist legend Chuck Roberts, this is a fine return to the label from Siege. The Dresden based duo Raukaustik are known for combining underground Tech House with Techno, which creates their very individual sound. Add Gene Farris to the mix, and you're in for an underground club cut. As a global ambassador of Chicago's classic House Music sound, Gene lays down an original vocal in his own inimitable style, taking this production to the next level.

Original productions, exciting collaborations and music that belongs in 4am dancefloors – Toolroom Trax is set to be a go-to label for DJs in 2020.
