Bordello A Parigi is delighted to welcome back the triumvirate of Sergio Mesa (IAMNOTAROBOT), David Jornet (Strange2, AMPbEND) and vocalist Maia J. In 2020 the partnership, better known as Hypnotique, released the stunning 12” ‘La Pénombre’. Armed with four tracks of emotive synth-pop, the group returns with ‘Solitude’. Crisp beats and lovelorn lyrics characterise the title piece, a warbling melody weaving and winding its way through tear-streaked words. ‘Ce Monde’ takes a different direction. Keys are upbeat with just a touch of brooding while vocals are distant yet sensual. Maia J’s incredible vocal range comes to the fore on this record, nowhere more than in the deep and layered ‘Le Divan’. Drums scuttle and spike against flowing synthlines as lyrics smoulder with an inchoate intensity. The tone, and language, change for the finale. Arpeggiators rumble and the band shift to English for the elegance and energy of ‘Paralyzed’. Four beautifully crafted synth cuts from an incredibly talented trio.

Mexican artist and Roam alumni Rolvia returns with three psychedelic electronic original offerings backed by remixes from Justin Robertson and Zakmina to form the Megacorp EP.
Imagina combines tripped out vocals, live instruments, and synths in a hypnotic mid temp journey. Miss Datos carries the live electric feel into slightly dreamier euphoric territory. Vertices turns up the arps for a fun ride. Up first on the remixes is Justin Robertson who takes Imagina deeper accentuating the dark grooves from the original. Zakmina flips the script with an all out peak time rave version bringing it back to the 90s.

Curated with expertise by Jaime Rodríguez Navarro aka James Rod (SXDNS099), the prolific Golden Soul Records reaches its eighty-seventh instalment. For the occasion, the Roswell Brothers gathered a super team of Latino talents to deliver their own vision of the single “Bonsai”. We are talking about versions here, and not necessarily remixes. Cali Burton, Playa Del Karma, Chinosynth (FREEDL021), Xsentrico, H, and the Roswells themselves twisted and retwisted this beautiful single at their own will in order to deliver well-crafted and creative interpretations with heart and mind, resulting in a true showcase of the young and rising artists’ capabilities. The release also works to increase once and for all the broad vision James has of Nu Disco: if it is groovy, it is for the Golden Soul catalogue. The (unnecessary) pigeonholing thing is up to you.

Premiered here, Chinosynth’s interpretation enchants due to its cosmic aura. With previous appearances on vital labels such as NEIN, HEARec, Side Up Works, Maleante, Controlla, Logia, and Discos Prohibidos, just to name a few, the solid Mexican artist brought the theme to his own realm by infusing it with a trippy and dreamy pad, a throbbing and pulsating bassline, arpeggiated and deep synth layers, and last but not least punchy and sharp guitar riffs.
