Cabezas’ new EP “Raya” is a distillation of the conversations that have shaped him over the last decade. From the Danceteria-ready sheen of “Madonna” to the nocturnal-italo pulse of “Sergio”, Cabezas covers a wide swath of sonic ground, starting in almost-familiar places and spiraling out into the unknown. 

This is Cabezas’ second EP, following up his 2018 Börft Records release Mi Calle. 

Born in Chile and living in Sweden, Patricio Cabezas is a multi-talented musician/producer. After years as a touring bass player, he re-com- mitted himself to electronic music, trading his pickups for a circuit board in search of the boundaries of sound. 

Since childhood Cabezas has thrown himself into the in-between. With a life of hybrid timezones, cultures and identities, his approach to music is similarly liminal. Driven by discovery and experimentation, Cabezas hybridizes genres, themes and instrumentation to create electronic music that lives on the edge, built for the mains, headphones and everywhere in between.

Building on their alignment as the DJ collective Surround, who host and DJ some of Los Angeles’ finest warehouse parties, the trio established Dusk Camp, a three-day music and art camp-out/festival in California’s desert lowlands. Born from their ethos to champion their local scene’s emerging talent, Dusk Camp merges their community's artists with invited guests.

The new label is inspired by the same principles as the events; freedom represented by the vast California landscapes where camp-out festivals are held, and independence represented by the renegade DIY warehouse parties in LA. The intersection of empowerment and expression, of light and shadow, of sun and moon—these dualities are the essence of Dusk, a thriving platform for radical inclusivity balanced by the chill vibe inherent to California.

The inaugural compilation, Dusk Volume One, is a love letter from California. Nocturnal household names among the unsung soldiers of the West Coast underground scene—Woolfy VS Projections, John Tejada, C.Love and Dave Aju to name a few—have contributed exclusive and previously unreleased tracks to the cohesive 14 track release, best enjoyed from start to finish. This narrative journey of tracks paints an image of vessels cruising throughout cosmos to dock at deep house islands, a contrast of vivid and subdued sonic textures that interplay like the marine layer haze and rhythmic waves on the Pacific horizon. All tracks were commissioned, conceived and produced during a global pandemic as a way to stay connected locally, and now globally, upon its release.

The latest Chubby! Records release is certain to be a highlight of 2021 with a who's who tracklist of some of the best names in house and techno. Chubby! spent a lot of time and effort over the past 18 months curating and collecting the type of quality that is worthy to be side by side on one release with so many fantastic names. Each artist seeming to out due each other, it's impossible to pick a favorite on this compilation let alone whether you like the original or remix version better. The double vinyl is laid out nicely with two tracks a side for a grand total of 8.
Each side having an original track and then a remix by another.

Aleqs Notal offers the first piece with a fantastic opener titled ' Planetary Insanity'. His ultra-smooth deep Detroit styled techno lays the foundation for what's to come. For remix duties, we are pleased to have the in-demand producer Life Recorder making his debut on the label. He turns the more streamlined version into a euphoric and optimistic dance floor gem.

Next, we move to the B side with 'Agonias' by the highly-touted Jose Rico. You can always expect some lively and lovely tribal business on a Jose Rico track and here is no exception. The melody is unique and classy and it stays right in the sweet spot to your enjoyment. We couldn't think of any producer better to compliment Jose Rico then the amazing Leonid.
He shoots for a more stripped-down version honing in on the chords and tribalness with great success. Deep is an understatement !

Pick up the 2nd vinyl from this double-pack and place the needle on side C for one of Australia's most respected artists, Ewan Jansen. 'Basilica' is late night groover of the pack. Perhaps the most house sounding here also, it rides a sublime Detroit-esque vibe that is undeniable on and off the dancefloor. Paired up for the remix is veteran producer Nail. He turns up the funk and tech notch to 11, creating an atmospheric escape into the stratosphere.

Flip over for the final side and here we have the man behind Planisphere who had one of the hottest reissues last year, David Swatten. He brings us the most laid-back jam of this compilation in 'Wave Energy'. Crystalized melodies chime off waves of house bliss in this super clean eargasm. Legendary techno artist John Beltran, is the final name to make an appearance with his more upbeat ‘Chicago’ version. It's hard to pick which we like better as John adds his beautiful forte style to this remix. The time of the day might be the deciding factor on which you play out as both are pure beauties. Either one ends the night on an amazing high.

We are extremely confident this will be one of your most loved double packs of 2021!

Futureboogie Recordings is calling time after ten years with a 20-track compilation that sums up the sound of the lovingly curated Bristol label. From throbbing arps and noirish guitar twangs to errant analogue blips and ceaseless, rolling grooves, it’s a different sound to what you might have heard five years back on the Summer Riot IV compilation, and certainly a long way from the early days. Consider Futureboogie 10² an ode to evolution as much as a toast to all the great tracks and the family of artists that have passed through the wide-reaching Futureboogie sphere since before the label was even a sparkle in the disco ball.
 
Originally founded by Dave Harvey and Steve Nickolls, the roots of Futureboogie lie in an intimate Bristol party called Seen. Started in 2002, this open-hearted session invited the likes of Metro Area, Attica Blues, Carl Craig, Maurice Fulton, Moodymann and Gilles Peterson – based on that heavyweight list, you can see the foundations were laid for what was to come. Futureboogie evolved off the back of these parties as a many-limbed operation – an artist management and booking agency as much as a club night, with Harvey and Nickolls consolidating the sound as DJs around Bristol and beyond. The progression to a record label was a logical one.
 
When Futureboogie Recordings launched in 2011 with Julio Bashmore and Javeon McCarthy’s ‘Father Father’, it represented an extended circle of friends close to the label from Bristol’s deep pool of talent and beyond – amongst them Eats Everything, Waifs & Strays, PBR Streetgang, Behling & Simpson and Crazy P. The reach of the label grew in tandem with its reputation, not to mention the endeavours of the team in other areas of the music game. The Boogiefuturo label became a vital entity on its own terms, carrying a lauded DJ Nature remix of Typesun which encapsulates two distinct generations of Bristolian house music at its best. DJ Nature, who cut his teeth as DJ Milo in the Wild Bunch days, has gone on to become a regular feature on Futureboogie, helping define its soulful, adventurous spirit.

A collection of high-grade dance floor excursions by friends from across the globe in support of Indigenous Communities, storytellers and creators. We’re beyond pumped to celebrate 18 months of operations with the maiden voyage of our new annual fundraiser compilation series.

Oddysee 001 is a collaborative compilation that features musical works from artists that we’ve had the pleasure of highlighting on our little microcosm over the past months. A carefully curated assembly of a rather talented bunch of creatives, we might add. All proceeds from the digital release will be split 50/50 between the contributing artists and NATV - a close-to-heart project that amplifies Indigenous voices and perspectives to a global audience.

At a time when Indigenous Peoples' identities and their right to traditional lands continue to be violated, we hope to support these communities, many of whom protecting vital ecosystems to insure biodiversity for generations to come.

The 12” vinyl release is composed from 4 tracks contributed to the digital comp and is accompanied with artwork from contemporary Vancouver-based (CA) artist Amy Stewart. 100% of profits from the vinyl will be directly donated towards NATV.
