Space… The final wasteland for the rich and entitled. A playground for the opulent. A fantasy for the 99.9 percent. A constant source of inspiration for artists. Artists like AZO.

Making her debut on Biologic Records, complete with a remix from Steffi, here we find the talented Belgian artist strapping up her rocket boosters for a four-track trip into infinity. It takes in influences from dark matter to Detroit, black holes to Brussels.

‘Aurora Space Station’ is a beautiful rave-inspired breakbeat floatation piece that sets the scene, poking fun at the mega-rich who can afford to seriously entertain the idea of leaving this planet for dust. More thrust is added by the deep space electro of Steffi’s thumping remix. Both have more power than all the fossil fuel Bezos and Branson have burnt in the last 10 years.

Deeper into the cosmos we probe…. ‘Neptunian Sea’ takes off from Chicago, fuelled on an intoxicating combo of acid and Italo. ‘Love Bus’ brings the anti-gravity heat with a heavy, hip-writhing nod to the jazz spirit of UR’s Galaxy 2 Galaxy movements.

We might not be able to afford a holiday in space, but we can afford great art like this. The dancefloor has always been the most effective place for teleportation. Ready for take off?

Dark Vektor's remix of 'Deshumanized' offers a minimalist take on '90s electro, with a direct and punchy sound.

Master Ilya Santana (SXDNS072) needs no introduction. When it comes to high-quality retro-extravaganza cuts, it’s impossible not to list him amid the most prominent artists of the Synth & Wave spectra. Such importance has brought a huge recognition not only to himself but also to his very own label, Astrolead Recordings, which has become a prolific platform to spread the word of the genres he has been investing his talent.

His brand-new creation, published on his personal Bandcamp, comes with the collaboration of the guitarist Tony David – and it’s a beauty! Fat & robust, upbeat & melodic, “Dervish D” is a tribute version of Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou’s homonymous masterpiece, but now properly dressed to impress on the dance floor. The main elements of the original are still there, beautifully reinterpreted, though. Ilya showcases a lot of extra skills in this particular theme.

And who the hell is Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou, some of you must be wondering. We are talking about Vangelis here.

However you know Teniente Castillo, you will only know good things. Whether you know the producer of slow and deliberate chunky techno, the label boss of Play Pal music, or whether you just know him as Fernando Pineda, the all round good guy! His Turn for the first compilation from the Sinchi Collective is as you would expect from such a talent, with live instrumentation, snappy snares and a bassline through dancefloors like a chainsaw.
The Sinchi Collective have long been synonymous with quality dance music while putting their name and their efforts to worthwhile causes, being at the helm of a long running podcast where they showcase their friends and most recently setting up a label of the same name. 
As well as turning in a mix which is out imminently, Mr Castillo has kindly contributed to the first Sinchi compilation, and it truly is firing on all cylinders, living up to the name ‘Altered States’. 
Make no mistake, the Ombra, Play Pal and Relish producer makes it clear that it is all about the music, but at the same time, It’s clear that Personality goes a long way.

PREMIERE | Teniente Castillo - Personality Goes A Long Way [Sinchi] 2019

The second release of ESTHÉTIQUE’s sublabel, MOIL, an imprint focused on EBM, Industrial and Dark Techno, features four intense original tracks by John Patter, a respected Lithuanian DJ and producer whose broad spectre of influences – from Hip Hop and Funk to Minimal and Techno – drove him smoothly down the road of obscure sounds. His previous releases on Ninefont and Shara Music are proof that the new phase on the career of the seasoned but still young artist is already making some noise.

“Trois Larmes” is an EP that showcases John Patter’s work in a way that indicates how versatile he is, inasmuch as all the tracks vary not only in BPM but also in genres. The tune we chose to premiere, “Sorrel In The Garden”, for instance, is a slomo acid & dark Techno cut, with intense and dusky synth layers topped with ethereal and ghostly vocals. Spooky? Yes, but definitely the kind of track that will make you get curious about Mr. Patter’s future endeavours.

The label launched in January 2019 and has featured a combination of singles and compilation releases with artists such as Sascha Funke, Curses, TAPAN, Damon Jee, Biesmans, Khidja, Italo Brutalo, Shubostar, Anatolian Weapons, and Tolouse Low Trax, to name a few and its objective is to promote positive social change and raise funds for our Sinchi Foundation, which supports Indigenous forest guardians in the Brazilian Amazon.
