The Sun, that magical star that provides energy and vitality, aims to hide from us and disappear during the long, dark winter times. Perhaps all things in the universe need a break and maybe that's why it is lost during this period. But just a little frame of time, cause he always come back to shine more than ever.
Fronted by Bradley Lucke and Mark Crooks, UK collective Statues has definitely established in the MM Discos family signing the last release by doing a very special tribute to the sun.
"Lost Star EP" is lysergic, melancholic and dreamy. Starting far away, light years away from us with the cosmic, repetitive and ascending rhythms of "Conney Island".
"Lost Star", the EP's title track, constantly pursues that dreamy feeling proposed in the first track, although it escapes into a much more organic but equally psychedelic terrain.
The EP takes a break and lowers the tempo a little with "The Becoming", taking it towards areas where "the ambient" is the protagonist, how proud Brian Eno would be about it. Closing the EP "Club Love", pure balearica-psychodelia.

"I have such vivid memories of the early 90s when everyone in our community couldn't stop talking about that incredible movement called "La Ruta del Bacalao" or simply "La Ruta." My brother was a regular on the Ruta, and I can still feel the excitement when he brought home those tapes after a wild "destroy" weekend. Those AC/TV, Spook Factory, and Spiral cassettes became my ultimate soundtrack back then, and they were probably my first taste of electronic music."

Pleasure Pool are a new Glasgow band who may wear their influences on their sleeve (they could have easily been in-house band at The Paradise Garage) yet still manage to have a lot of uniqueness & sound of now. They say – “8 am. Yellow on wood. In the moist, the dry fantasises. Blue mood, contemplative. Bass still vibrates, vibrates through the temples. I try to be tired, tried, but who needs sleep tonight? Way to awake to dream, too dreamy to sleep. Other days are starting, good one. Another bit of yellow, air, frantic heart. Beat. Beaten by the night, beaten by the day. Red. Bed? Not yet. On to green, even if it’s grey. There’s always time to play.

That’s how Pleasure Pool leave you, always wanting more. Glasgow’s underground birds put out their first release on Optimo Music. Dreamlike vocals are surrounded by pulsing synth-landscapes, which introduce the listener to their own unique temporality. Somewhere between the euphoria of a 6am rave and the organised psychedelia of an Anni Albers textile, the sound bounces hypnotically on your brainstem until the hypothalamus pukes endorphins out. Optimo Music Digital Danceforce 023 - Pleasure Pool - Night Scars EP

Das Komplex joins up with the King Of Kong imprint to release four soul-infused tracks entitled ‘Reverse Hallucination’. After spending years as a bedroom musician and occasional DJ Marcin Lukaszewicz, modest producer from North-Western Poland known as Das Komplex debuted four years ago on local FASRAT label. Since then he became one of the most respected Polish producers, releasing an album on Catz’n’Dogz’ Step label, as well as singles for Young Adults, Love On The Rocks or People Must Jam. His very singular, hazy breed of sample- based house-derived music made its way to sets of numerous high-profile DJs (from the late Andrew Weatherall to Axel Boman), eventually making its way to no other than DJ Harvey, who invited Marcin to play at his Pikes Ibiza residency, and included one of his tunes on his recent ‘Mercury Rising’ compilation.

‘Lagos’ takes a slightly darker route, but even here a heavy, percussive groove is brightened by bursts of uplifting piano.
