After two stunning manifestations on ‘Muy Duro’ compilations the Austro-Turkish duo, Hanzo & Yaman, fall on Duro with their first full EP for the label and it’s loaded with a powerful remix from DFA legend The Juan Maclean.

“Die Neue Welt” the main title is a reminder that no matter how hard you try to run away, the new world has arrived. A world where biology and technology are one and the same. A world created with synthetic and organic percussion, melting and waving synthesizers, and a robotic voice. The Juan Maclean put out a stripped club remix, where every element needed to make the dancefloor explode is kept and escalated to the next level.

“Atari Maedchen” is the second blazing original and has an obsessive and twisted synth lead that brings to feel locked inside an arcade room. Last but not least is “Niemandsland” a mystical, astral melody synth carries us along with a tempestuous rolling slice of percussive hypnotica.

Lott's sound can be defined as a psychedelic imprint topped on a structured drum machine rhythm, all mixed with his generous usage of warm percussion and other spices.

Wrong Button is an unfamiliar disco story, taking the listener on a spaceship to a faraway place. Heavy drums and bass guitar carry tension to the peak of the track that flows naturally... until an accident happens and a wrong button is pressed! which causes a massive explosion to occur, right where the drop comes in.

Nasty Shake is a musical reflection. It transmits the hidden meaning behind a handshake, a vague and foggy intention lies underneath the two participants, not knowing whether it is devious or not... the synth and infinite melodies are here to solve the case.

Misunderstood Theory is a conflict between Bells and Synthesizers, future and past. All rolling together they deliver an electric image that wishes to take the dancefloor to a future gate to pass through. With random flashbacks and acid lines, in between the channels, Arik Einstein’s voice pops out and contributes to the vibe.

Cornelius Doctor Remix of Misunderstood Theory is a dismantling and a reconstruction affair. Breaking the beat and enhancing the groove. Cutting the arpeggiators and creating the pads. Delivering a new track, born on the ashes of it’s original. Taking you on a hazy trip while you move your body unconsciously.

Two of the most promising producers of the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene joined forces to deliver the forthcoming release of the respected label Espacio Cielo: Lucare (SXDNS175) and Aurum Miles present “Demonomania”, a devilish and intense EP featuring two spirited originals and three lively remixes provided with love by an international selection of top-notch artists: Mexico-born/France-based Leonor (SXDNS034), Spanish Lebollet (RASTROLIVE004) and Belgium duo Marching Machines.

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, “demonomania” can be defined as “a delusion of being possessed by evil spirits”. The condition has surely not affected the lads but the same cannot be said of their synths: The sonority they conveyed sounds fiendish and infernal – undoubtedly, the dance floor will say thanks!

Premiered here, Leonor’s crushing remix of “Taste Of Your Mushroom”: In his interpretation, the mayor of Tournus opted for a darker instead of a more percussive (and characteristic) atmosphere, investing in a fatter bassline and ominous synth layers – the dance floor will also certainly say thanks!

PREMIERE222 // Lucare & Aurum Miles - Taste Of Your Mushroom (Leonor Remix)

After featuring none other than Silicodisco, Javier Busto, and Ivan De La Rouch in its 2021 releases, ESTHÉTIQUE breaks the strain of acclaimed Spanish virtuosos to open its doors for a Russian artist: Moscow-based Dark Magic & Disco conjurer Orchid defines himself as a retro sound producer. Despite the young age, the skilled newcomer has a thing for the sonority of the past, especially for the 80s and 90s golden era, skilfully wrapping it in an Oriental, Eastern, and Turkish atmosphere. The result is an interesting concoction of soundscapes that now lands on the respected French label with a must-have EP.

Orchid’s “Kushtanesh” delivers four crusty originals and four consequential remixes made with love by a true dream team of stars: Leonor (SXDNS034), Balam (SXDNS048), Günce Aci (SXDNS129), and Connor. We chose the latter’s version to premiere/review, and it’s a paragon, peeps!

“Connor is one of the hottest exports from Belgium” (44,100hz Social Club), having already appeared in many vital Indie Dance/Dark Disco imprints, such as Nein, Maleante, Dogs & Vultures, Roam, Logical, Controlla, Emerald & Doreen, HEARec, and ESTHÉTIQUE itself, just to name a few.

For his interpretation of “Bulgarian Caves”, the Liège-based hero kept the aforementioned Oriental, Eastern, and Turkish atmosphere, characteristic of Orchid’s pieces, but immersed it in a more minimalistic aura, acquiring an effective obscure but Summerish interpretation. Kudos!

“Palm Tree Walk” is their new Ep made up of two powerful originals and four massive remixes.

We open the EP with the track that gives its name to “Palm Tree Walk”. A slow and traveling walk takes us to the sky crossed by palm trees and percussion. Rhythmic and faded vocals to the sound of ´cha cha cha´s without forgetting the restless bassline at all times. Prepare your boots for the ride!

Second cut of the EP, this gem is called “Don Electron” with an indie and acid cut, inspired by that subatomic particle that in our electronic physics becomes a god. Dense and fun groove with hybrid synths spinning and the bass station non-stop blending. Pure atoms to dance!

Followed by remixes with Palm Tree Walk by the producers from Chihuahua: Enjanzea2 with a flying and dynamic ride, perfect piece for the dance floor, faded guitars that leave a trail, mysterious melodies and spatial landscapes in this version, an exquisite gem within the Ep.

We continue with Javier Martinez, a native of OAXACA Mexico and part of Rotten city records, Nein among others ... Dark and serious version of Palm Tree Walk, constant intrigue and melodic overtones fly over the surface, a progressive version that takes you hypnotized without stopping moving.

The Italian producer with enormous trajectory CSK, brings us an old school re-version of Don Electron, keeping elements and creating a complete odyssey to shred. Taking break paths of quick steps, dark synths and crazy drums complete the version.

We closed with the head of Bonkers Ludviq, he could not be absent in this EP, with his version ‘Mental’ he gets into our heads to create a hybrid mix of Don Electron. Simmer breaks and dense beat, loaded with shifting percussion and rhythmic keys that plunge you into the nocturnal jungle. Eyes closed and a sensory journey to close this great EP.

PREMIERE – Poulper, Renuna – Don Electron (Ludviq ‘Mental’ Mix) (Bonkers Records)

One of the reasons Mexico is such a strong reference when it comes to high-quality underground electronic music is because of its competently curated labels. Here is a new one: Kyma Komplex has started its journey only last January with a mesmerising single by Corresponsal & Veltrán, the label owner himself, but has already started drawing the attention amid the Indie Dance/Dark Disco community.

For its second instalment, the promising imprint brings back the aforementioned duo, this time accompanied by an interesting trio of young remixers, though: Manu Barcelo, Sixtoagusto (SXDNS031), and Ives Barceló, who delivered made with love interpretations of “Delirio”, the title track.

Premiered here, Manu Barcelo’s bold version brings the game to a more House Music court. Speeding up things “just” a little bit – from 104 to 118 BPM –, the Argentinian producer infused the original with flush percussive elements and menacing distorted layers in order to replace, competently, the Post-Punk aura of Corresponsal & Veltrán’s cut.

Local Suicide will release their long-awaited debut album ‘Eros Anikate’ on their label Iptamenos Discos on 13th May.
