Sometimes you are browsing the SoundCloud feed, randomly pressing play because you like the artwork of a release or recognize the name of an artist that you danced to during the last Summer at a hidden-location open air… then you see the magic word that makes your heart race and time freeze: EDIT! This new form of interpretating a song has been responsible in the last years for bringing (back) to the spotlight old and forgotten gems that were and can be the source of inspiration for brand-new cuts.

Now imagine a twelve-track multi-genre release featuring only edits, remixes, and reworks of splendid tunes from the past. Mouthwatering, isn’t it? Well, this is exactly what the rising Mexican label Boyanza Records is soon bringing to life. On board, rising & established local heroes such as Tyu, Dan Solo, My Boy Roy (SXDNS231), Alex Aguayo, Didaskein (SXDNS331), and Durango 95, just to name a few.

For his take on Ivan’s Italo-Disco-beast “Fotonovela”, from the fourth studio album of the Spanish artist, “Baila” (1985), Durango 95 pays a proper tribute by keeping virtually everything from the original and adding spot-on filters and FXs for a more modern touch.

“Ich Geh Nicht Mit Dir” is a stunning, intoxicating title, which could lead the crowd to a certain alienation. The metronomic groove of the song is carried by swirling vocals and pads, an almost horrifying atmosphere of a manhunt !

The second original piece “Running through Fiction” is definitively a pure dancefloor track ! The manhunt goes to the next level, danger is everywhere and the only way out is certainly the dancefloor ! The dance steps follow one after the other, the sneakers smoke, the bodies sweat, welcome in the secret playground !

Welcome to the talented Jason Core on the imprint. The spanish producer gives to the eponym track a more Italo way, giving extra energy. And when the acid wave breaks, it’s crazy !

To close the wonderful release, Jakob Mäder is back with a pretty housy remix of the second original track. And when the piano is added to the rhythm, a kind of melancholy accompanies the hearts. Or maybe it’s joy ?

For this first opus, she wants to collaborate and praise some of her talented friends that she met during her journey. Again and again Florian Herzberg – the mastermind behind My Secret Playground – is drawn to his hometown Vienna. A city full of old glory and vanity, a spirit of optimism and standstill in the same way. On his releases the now Berlin-based producer combines these peculiarities in Electro and modern sounding 80s tracks. Rolling aggressive beats are replaced by broad synths and strings. Pounding kick drums paired with nostalgic vocal lines and vocoders make the leap into the 21st century and give My Secret Playgrounds an own contemporary Indie Dance sound.
