@memoryplay_music returns to Control Freak with ‘We Used to Speak the Same Language’ -a 4 track collection of primal techno.

Lean, destructive, and emotionally exposed, the EP represents an evolution that has developed through a series of captivating and uncompromising live sets. Fusing psychedelic techno and experimental sound design, these tracks channel a cathartic energy that cements his vision of the dancefloor as a space for collective ritual, release, and confrontation.

It is also a pleasure to welcome @morelian and @ gramrcy to the label - repurposing the title track for the transition from peak time to early hours with their marching, modern-minimal take.

This one is gonna be one for the history books! At least for us in this little independent label in by the sea, in the tip of Europe... We've been following Mikey's work for long now, since those early electro releases in CPU... We’ve been playing his records for ages, and we even knew we had a couple of common friends, but to see a message from the man himself in our inbox, saying that he would love to to put out an EP with us, caught us completely off guard! Mikey is the kindest soul and his compliments to our vibe and work ethic just flooded our hearts and made us feel seen, probably for the first time! Everyone know on hard it is to get noticed on the scene these days, so his message hit hard! There’s no way we were gonna say no this one! Thank you Mikey, it’s truly an honour!

About the record, in Mikey’s own words, ““Myths of the MediterrAlien” is a high-octane voyage through a universe where ancient cultures collide with futuristic visions.” For him “the MediterrAlien is a hybrid character who drifts between mythology and outer space, carrying fragments of both history and hyperspace into the club.” Across four explosive tracks, the EP reimagines deconstructed club and experimental bass through a fast, hyper-energetic lens. Each piece feels like a different chapter in the MediterrAlien’s journey, spiralling through cosmic turbulence, touching down on ancient shores, and refracting tradition through the intensity of a distant galaxy. Designed for the late-night fringes of the dance floor, Myths of the MediterrAlien is both a personal mythology and a sonic wormhole—bridging the universe where Jensen Interceptor’s comes from with where his imagination is heading next.

Molly Penney moves between percussive, off-kilter club sounds and moments of release. Built around fractured rhythms, shifting textures and vocals that flirt with euphoria while never fully settling there, her sets are shaped by mood rather than genre.

She’s a co-founder of Portsmouth based Unmade Radio that grew into a wider community platforming local DJs and holding parties and creative projects in the city. Community building guides her approach to her mixes which is focused on connection and shared experience on the dance floor.

Her mix is a fluid musical experience moving seamlessly from deep, introspective and atmospheric moments with elements of lightness and clarity to very percussive rhythmic sections designed for the dance floor, incorporating on the journey elements of acid and breakbeat.
