Still reveling in the after glow of the Southport Weekender 50th anniversary. I caught up with Rainer Truby on a warm sunny evening, ahead of his performance alongside Futureboogie owner and DJ Dave Harvey at the Love Inn.
Rather like catching up with an old friend rather than an interview, Rainer & I discuss; Southport Weekender, Level 42, his early years as a volunteer DJ at an old peoples home. his involvement with Danilo Plessow from Motor City Drum Emsemble and other magical moments.


I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Rainer for his time, and excellent sense of humour and of course his music.

This month’s Carhartt WIP Radio show welcomes the Paris-born, Tokyo-raised DJ, producer, label founder, and sound designer @alexfromtokyo.

Living in Japan for 25 years during the 80s and 90s, he had an ear to the ground for Tokyo’s thriving electronic and dance music scenes. He worked as a DJ, promoter, translator, and coordinator between Japan and the rest of the world, before launching his own label in 2002, titled world famous. 

This fall, Alex From Tokyo will be releasing Japan Vibrations Vol. 1, a compilation which in his own words, sounds like “the heartbeat of Tokyo: electric, eclectic, and always surprising.”

This totally improvised Live Stems Mix of Gino Soccio's iconic track "Dancer" was performed during a Twitch stream on March 19, 2022 using Traktor DJ Studio and a Native Instruments D2 controller.

It has the sort of hypnotic flow that feels like a perfect fit for getting 'lost in sound' at an after-hours party in a dark room full of sweaty bodies.
