For its fourth release, Folklor Nation welcomes Berlin based (and club residents) duo CYRK with a versatile and eccentric four tracker: Out of the Pink. This new record shows a slightly different side of CYRK, between italo and space disco. 
On the remixes side, Alinka Offers a smart and sophisticated electro version of the title track, while Prins Thomas does what he does best and delivers a nu-disco anthem suited for the hot summer nights. Last but not least, Italo-Belgian duo Front De Cadeaux´s reinterpretation flirts with genres, a bit of electro, a bit of broken beats, always with their slow bpm hypnotic signature.

Offen is proud to announce the long awaited new solo release by one of Italy’s most visionary producers, Marco Passarani. WOW encompasses eight tracks that vary in texture, with nods to proto-house, dystopic electronica, classic Detroit techno and Library records alike. Opening with the panoramic spacescape of “Coldrain,” buoyed by a supple bassline, the future-nostalgic “Cydonia Rocks,” with its washes of sound, gives way to “Drumy Dream,” a robotic techno lovesong. “Get Down” follows, its insistent rhythm and TB-303 refrain punctuated with jagged vocoder stabs. The anthemic and agile “Innowave” stretches out, making way for “Minerals,” its bubbling rhythm drenched in a dreamy and disconnected optimism. “Talk to Me” and “Strings Fair” bring the record to its emotional apex, with murky, energetic basslines building a scaffolding for sparkling cascades of melody. The record is the Roman producer’s first solo LP in 14 years. Lately, he says he felt he an impetus to enter into the more intimate side of his creativity, which was central to his early work. Examining his approach to composition and experimentation, Passarani, whose studio boasts an enviable array of analog synths, streamlined his working process, creating a flexible system that enabled him to utilize brief moments in between shows as well as in alternative spaces: A reduced setup that he could take everywhere, and which could also work as the core layout for his live performances. And that, he says, is how he started writing down sketches, one after the other. WOW wasn’t exactly planned. He says, “I was trying to bring order to my creativity, going through the pieces of the puzzle that I’ve been lost in. Before, I could concentrate on some areas of the puzzle, while now I can see the final picture when I look at all those pieces. And this is what happened, especially when I listen to the songs now than can tell my story but also show future paths. WOW is like my zen garden of ideas: Probably not definitive, and it will never be, ‘cause time will bring changes. But my new garden is finally ready to accept those and change with them.”

Brain Dancing springs from a creative collaboration between Glasgow DJ alumni Rob Etherson, one half of techno outfit Mia Dora and a renowned mix engineer, alongside Ross Anderson co-founder of Sub Club residency I AM (now in its 8th year), graphic artist and creative programming director of The Berkeley Suite.  Brain Dancing operates as a monthly party, a studio project and a curated visual aesthetic. 

With both members having their own releases on Optimo Trax, their relationship with the Glasgow home scene is evolving and growing - Etherson with Mia Dora’s Un.Sub EP  in 2014, and Anderson on the Glasgow. London. New York. Edinburgh EP in 2015 (under his I AM DJ moniker Beta).

Channeling their dancefloor influences, from past masters of the rave and beyond, and fusing those with 21st century production techniques Brain Dancing present their 2nd EP on OMDD following a successful debut on BNR Trax.

“When the driver reaches ultimate speed, he realised the world as he knew it was morphing. The array of beams and city lights became waves of spectrum entering the quantum realms. The sizzling frequencies became rhythmic melodies and his body started to get lighter and lighter until he reached 0 gravity. This anamorphic world he entered was called The Drive.”

Entering the remix world for the first time, at Fauve Records, it was important to create a panoply of genres. We thoroughly selected 4 remixers for The Drive [Re-Mix] EP. 

On duty first is Lauer (Running Back) from Germany who needs no introduction. To our eyes, his recognisable touch was perfectly fitted for the title track “The Drive”, nostalgia was the approach, long build-ups bringing you into a melancholic trance.

Number two is our long time favourite local Hong Kong producer who also needs no introduction, Mr Ho (Klasse Wrecks). His approach of “Ke Ai” is a murky old school raw beat goodness, using short snippets of the original to re-create a club heater that will guarantee sweaty walls in warehouses.

We’re not done with you yet, our third guest, two fellas from L.A. known as Warehouse Project Society that recently released on DJ Harvey’s Mercury Rising. This duo has been on our radar for quite some time and we knew they would reinterpret “Fray” perfectly. Long and behold, mesmerising atmospheres, dub grooves and a specific dark touch that can only be perfectly executed by these maestros.

Last but not least, our up and coming favourite young Singaporean producer Bongomann (Darker Than Wax). We highly recommend following this little chap. His signature style being airy house breaks, he was the best bloke to remix “Air House”. His soft broken beat 90’s feel englobes the whole track lifting you up on a little cloud all the way. 

We want to thank from the bottom of our hearts every one involved in this release as it holds a special place in our story as our first Remix EP.

We hope you enjoy the tracks as much as we enjoyed putting this little puppy together.

Bård Aasen Lødemel, aka Skatebård, got into techno and rave during the '90s before he became a producer of retro-futuristic disco, house, and techno. 
Hailing from a town called Ørsta on the Norwegian west coast, Lødemel moved to Bergen in the year 2000, where he quickly became part of the town's growing club scene. 
After handing over a homemade demo to Tellé Records label boss Mikal Telle, Lødemel was signed to offshoot label Tellektro in 2001. 
His first release under the name of Skatebård, a concise vinyl-only album called Skateboarding Was a Crime (In 1989), was released in 2002, and slowly but surely Skatebård's reputation started spreading beyond Norway's borders. 
Throughout his impressive career of releasing five albums and more than twenty 12-inches, he has steadily carved out his own corner of dance music with a unique flair. Traversing a range of seemingly disparate genres and emotions comes incredibly naturally to the Norwegian artist, whose music oscillates between Italo disco and raw Detroit infused house and techno. With an enviably eclectic collection of the mastery to navigate it seamlessly, Skatebård’s DJ sets offer exploratory excursions through the unknown and unexpected. From festival mainstages to intimate clubnights, Boiler Rooms and radio shows, Skatebård has captivated audiences across the globe, performing at many of electronic music’s most revered institutions.
The dynamic scope of Skatebård’s artistry extends to his work in the studio. Spanning over two decades, his impressive discography is dispersed across labels including his own Digitalo Enterprises, Sex Tags Mania and Bordello A Parigi. With a knack for balancing kitsch with elegance, Skatebård creates music that exudes an air of nonchalant fun.
