‘Laili Jaan’ is a song that took the world of Afghan Pop by storm in the 70’s by a man who is considered as the King of Afghan music – Ahmad Zahir. While Afghanistan is known for its wealth of heritage music, Zahir contributed towards creating a legacy of Pop and Rock music that mirrored Elvis Presley, which led him to be regarded as the ‘Elvis of Afghanistan’. The song talks about classic heartbreak – with just the right amount of pleasure in the experience of love that accompanies the sorrow of heartbreak. A song that represents the tragedy of love lost with a comical tinge, the feel of contrasting emotions comes through in the way that our aggrieved lover puts on a brave face to smile through the agony of heartbreak.
This Season Zeb & Haniya take on the song as an ode to Ahmad Zahir as well as reimagining the song through the female perspective of a song sung by a man. The song is reminiscent of a time where the rich tunes of Afghan music prevailed in various parts of the world and had become a huge part of growing up in cities like Peshawar – something Zeb and Haniya remember fondly from their childhood days. Flash forward to 2013 and the duo bring to the song a gypsy feel that is complemented by the instrumentation performed by L’Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio – a modern sound that meets the tone of rhythm and blues with an added layer of jazz.

A tribute to Sindh's Radical Sufi Poet Sachal Sarmast - The Truth - (1739-1829) on his 194 URS Mubarak.
Sufi believe we never die but re-unite, so the departure is reunion and Sufi's disciples witness it by gathering on Sufi Shrines & they dances, sing and recite their poetry. Sufi Poetic Traditions are unique in Sub-continent & hard to find anywhere else. Sufi emerge as a reaction to the religious bigotry & rigidity and its liberation from your ownself, own mind and all kind of arthodaxy. Sachal is not alone but from Rumi, Bhagat Kabir, Meera Bai, Shah Latif Bhittai, Saami, Bhagat Kanwar Ram, Saeen Baba, Ghulam Fareed, Qalandar, Shah Inayat & to Shaik Ayaz but the list doesn't end on the these names it will go on and on.

Oh mother! I see Wandrers
That a peep at beloved had
One night i in their place did stay

To know them is in drowning deep
To have a safty rift
Accross far off realm, through seasons past

Their feet are all covered with dust and sand
From a distant far foreign land
How do i know?
They feed on roots and herbs wild grown
And seek a land, unseen unknown,
On stony grounds of dust and weed
They lay their heads, when rest they need
To seek the light, they do not cease
And they seek the lights, of infinity
In infinitude, I toss O guide no bound percieve mine eyes
Tortuous beauty of the loved has no limits, has no size
Here intensive longing lies
There the loved ones do not care
The hill-ascetics, I did see
With sorrow they keep company
In biting winds they weep like rain
With longing for divinity
To seek the light, they do not cease
And they seek the lights, of infinity
From far off realm, through seasons past
Khahori have returned at last
From distant lands and secrets rare

Could see nowhere.

O ye, Ascetic!
Love, so that you own something
Life is a four-day sojourn here
Be the merchant, do trade
As long as the event/shop runs
Oh! Its dirty water, not have as much of the soap, I lament at the washing
The all four corners of my chadar (bandana) are muddy
(Do not know) which to wash-down and which leave unclean
Ghulam Farida, will scream/shriek as the Koonj is detached from washing her flock
What can I offer, and what gain, nothing is mine
O Lord, I can sacrifice this existence/being, but that too is yours (and not mine)
Made a chapatti over the fire
And the fire of my beloved carried (in heart) along
The trail of the unity took me to the beloved/destination
Still have not kneaded the flour
Neither am dead, nor alive, nor exist
Holding love of my Lord in my heart, cannot love else
God dwells in my mind, its (not me, but) Him who is named Bulha Shah
Whom the Prophet kissed with veneration, long before the, forefathers

None else must have suffered like me
Embellished from head to toe, I tread the land of love alone
Ranjha! Ranjha!! 
Sadiq (the poet) wanders everywhere singing the song of your name 
And yet my prayer remains unanswered, my longing remains untamed 
This tragedy that eats my heart cannot be understood
Unless you too, have been through the cruel test of love 
O my darling! My heart! You alone can bring peace to me
For I have already avowed to Love and traded my life for it
They tell me Ranjha is just another herdsman 
But I see the holy shrine in Him, my only destiny 
And to this shrine have I surrendered myself,
Seeking nothing except to yield to Him
Perhaps it was my destiny to be drunk on Love
Call me a sinner, if you please but I am no more afraid of your hell
For my faith belongs to my beloved, 
I cannot be chastised by the fear of hell
Because I am not lured by your heaven
If I were to choose between the hell and the heaven and my beloved
I would readily let go of both the heaven and hell
For my heaven lies at my beloved’s feet
And His pursuit my only pilgrimage.
