Dublin-based DJ/producer and label owner Laughing Man is someone who’s been on our radar for some time. A long-time favourite amongst discerning minimal techno fans, he also runs the Standalone label and has left his own inimitable mark on respected labels such as Fasten Musique, Berg Audio, Silencio and more. New Delhi Based artist - Bønehead - boldly embraces his genre-fluid approach to music with ‘Pulp Fictiøn’

- Where pop meets dance, trance meets breaks, electro meets bass and techno meets ghetto.

The New Delhi–based, multifaceted, and genre-fluid artist returns to his homegrown label with a new concept EP titled Pulp Fictiøn. Taking inspiration from the film, the EP features four intertwining tales (tracks) that revolve around the artist’s experiences, motives, and state of mind.

“I’m no longer catering to ‘Techno Enthusiasts’ or ‘Bass-heads.’ I made this for people who can appreciate music without trying to fit it into a box or a playlist.”

Electro riffs, chopped vocals, hypnotic breaks, and classic bass grooves—all thematically linked together by one life, one story, spanning 21 minutes and 34 seconds, that define ‘Bønehead’......for now.

While he has been producing since the 90s when he was exploring downtempo trip hop and ambient sounds, DoubtingThomas has been continuously immersing himself in a wide range of styles that all feed into the more dancefloorfocused material he works on today. During his time spent in London throughout the 00’s he developed a live set which has become one of the key channels for his creative energy. Meanwhile he scored releases on labels such as Soul Jazz, Safari Electronique, Lessizmo:r and Adjunct Audio amongst others at the peak of minimal techno’s creativity. Besides this more personal work he composes music for Universal Publishing and Cezame Music Agency in a commercialcapacity. 

His sound has always drawn upon wider influences than cookie-cutter dancefloor music, reaching to jazz and musique concrete to find textures that challenge in between the rhythms, and so it is that his distinctive live set has become his calling card in recent times. With recent tours taking him to the likes of Arma in Moscow, Rex Club in Paris and across the US, audiences around the world have been awoken to the distinctive DoubtingThomas sound. It’s the same kind of unique spirit that he brings to his DJing, taking chances to present a crowd with an alternative to the straight and narrow rules of so much club music.

While the performances keep on rolling, Aurelien is also investing his considerable energy into a multitude of recording projects from his current base in Berlin, continuing a thread started with the downtempo collaborative project D.O.T.S he began in London and moving it away from a jazz leaning to more experimental pastures under the PROMISES banner. 

Alongside that venture he has a spread of releases planned, including more than one album in the works. As previouslystated, the restless approach to his craft promises great things on the horizon for DoubtingThomas.

Skif Tafari or his favourite tempo!
Over the years of his extensive experience as a DJ, he has continuously immersed himself into countless music scenarios and sound combinations which at some point resulted in willingness to come up with and bring to life his own ideas. This decision became fundamental in launching Taras Kohanovskyi’s project named Skif Tafari. Taras is not only a DJ but also a vinyl enthusiast with an impressive collection of top-notch music of various genres that has been formed for more than two decades. It varies from acid house, breakbeat, late 80’s / early 90’s jungle to contemporary sounding of deep house, microhouse, breaks, dub techno, minimal breakbeat, ragga dub, 2step and d’n’b. 
During the soundcheck at one of the major music events, Taras once heard an old-school breakbeat piece which stirred his nostalgic feelings and brought him back to the basics. Dusting off his old records and a collection of music samples, he got down to writing new tracks as SKiF TAFARi. Owing to many years of experience and reconsidered look at his favourite rhythms, SKiF TAFARi’s tracks gained high-quality sounding which is highly recognizable and sometimes ironic.
