The first track on 1FFEM001 is the rising star of experimental electronic grime and dubstep music, L U C Y.

The Bristol born producer now based in London has been producing for 6 years and in that time has honed her unique sound and stamped her authority across the underground and is recognised across different scenes for her original electronic sound. Having played at Bandulu, Fabric & Motion to name a few as well as Keep Hush apperances she is also on the opening night line-up for 13 Weeks of Flava D at XOYO alongside Flava D, Skepsis & Sharda. She’s supported artists such as Swamp 81 boss Loefah, Bandulu’s Khan & Neek and Hi5 & Boofy as well as Murlo. The Bandulu crew have been supporting her music regularly.

With releases on Trapdoor, Astral Black and Femme Culture she also won 2017 the South-West heats of Red Bull’s Riddim Rally in 2017 as well as competing earlier this year in the Beat Boss Qualifiers and hosted various music workshops for Red Bull, Apple and Saffron Records.

The final track on the all female release comes from K Minor. Based across the Thames from Bamz in North West London she started producing in 2013. Although playing instruments from a young age of 8 including piano and guitar gave her a real understanding for music theory. Having also hosted workshops for Native Instruments and Red Bull on electronic music production.

Since taking up producing more seriously in the last 4 years she has been self releasing her own UK Garage music with support coming from DJ Cartier, Mike Delinquent, Marcus Nasty as well as a feature from Complex UK. Funnily enough it was the Prince of UKG himself Conducta who recommended K Minor for this release after coming up short on our hunt for a female UKG producer.

Skoop Mix Series 001 : Cleaverhype

Benjamen Walker had a theory that priority queues are changing the American experience of waiting in line. So he visited amusement parks, highways, and community colleges to find out how these priority queues work and who is using them. What started as an episode of 99% Invisible became a half-hour radio documentary for the BBC.

Along the way Walker met the man that may be responsible for the reason why many Americans know the word “queue” at all: Neil Hunt from Netflix. He has been trying to abandon the word ever since he introduced it into the DVD service over a decade ago.

Walker also met up with Susan Crawford and she is a net neutrality advocate who thinks that queues are a good way to examine the pitfalls with what she calls the “cablelization” of the internet. Comcast has taken the lead in providing high-speed internet to consumers, but people like the CEO of Netflix have been critical of how Comcast favors its own video content over video from third party services like Netflix and HBO Go. Crawford’s concerns go way beyond streaming video to the heart of the net neutrality debate: is a market without any meaningful competition a safe place to determine the future of communications in this country?

Maybe we should all move to Kansas City.

[PREMIERE] 2 2 D O L P H I N S - LUMPS OF COAL 4 NAUGHTY KIDZ

This pace-setting debut from Edinburgh based producer Gaffa is a full out onslaught of deep, sludgy bass and gut-wrenching breaks. Touching on everything from Dubstep and Jungle to Trance and lo-fi Trap, the release is littered with nods to a multitude of styles while adeptly avoiding the pit-falls of common tropes and cliches.

Gaffa's refusal to conform to the genres often strict use of tempo and structure is what really lifts the project, giving it the feeling of a woozy sped-up night on the sesh where literally anything can happen. Tracks like "Who's Gaff" and "Run That" ground the release in it's roots of Dubstep and Grime while "Lioness" and "Ground Zero" introduce elements of pummelling Breakcore and DnB. The vast soundscape of UK rave culture that is channeled through "The Gaffa Tape" is a truly impressive achievement, creating a bubbling cauldron of sonic dissonance fizzing with easter eggs and hidden gems.

Expect a lot more from him over the coming years.
