I wrote this a while ago as a tribute two friends (band members) killed in a vehicle accident many years ago.  It was a tribute in the style of Jeff Beck, who sadly passed away yesterday, 11th January 2023.  He was lifelong inspiration to me.  RIP Jeff.

Do you sometimes get a feeling that people your age in the public eye, as well as family and people you know, are succumbing to the Grim Reaper with increasing frequency?  And you wonder how long you can continue dodging the bullets?  It was that feeling that gave rise to the lyrics for this song, which I then put into a blues-type setting.

Every day I lose someone who was part of my life.
And my heart is gripped by a hand made of ice.
‘Cos when all’s said and done, it’s just a throw of the dice.

My appointment with my maker is coming into sight.
It’s funny and hopeless how we all put up a fight.
