Largely regarded as one of the most distinctive, powerful acts to emerge in bass music, their production techniques are referenced and praised across the entire electronic music scene. An artist synonymous with Drum and Bass, Ed Rush has become a byword for cutting edge, forward thinking
beats. Moving through the sounds of hip hop and electro in his early musical years, Ed Rush soon became
interested in the emerging London jungle scene.
Showing his innate ability to manipulate chopped breakbeats and piles of sub-low bass, it wasn't long before Ed
Rush and Nico dropped the huge 'Bludclot Artattack'. The first classic to Ed Rush’s name, this proved to be a
platform for another collaboration with DJ Trace. Simultaneously developing his own style whilst pushing the
boundaries of a genre, classics such as ‘The Mutant' and 'Guncheck' put Ed Rush’s attitude injected productions
firmly on the map.
One of the pioneers of new sound dubbed Techstep, Ed Rush soon teamed up within another leading light,
Optical; to form what would become one of the most progressive production teams in the scene. In 1998, Ed
Rush & Optical released an album universally recognized as changing the landscape of Drum and Bass forever
with the legendary, ‘Wormhole’ on Virus Recordings. Still regarded as one of the main catalysts for the Neuro and
Techstep sound, ‘Wormhole’ paved the way for household names such as Noisia, Bad Company and many more.
Since then Ed Rush has released a plethora of genre-defining tracks and albums, both solo and with his partner in
crime, Optical. Still busy at work on a new Ed Rush & Optical LP due in late 2013, Ed Rush is not merely content
with helping shape the scene and remaining one of its most consistent producers. Beginning his own venture, he
now looks to the future with the birth of Piranha Pool. An outlet for showcasing new talent and veterans alike,
Piranha Pool represents what will be the future of Drum and Bass.

Luka Per aka Smooth was introduced to music at the age of 10, when he began to practice piano. After practicing for 3 years and later on he became more interested in guitar, also in such genres as metal, hardcore etc. When a couple of years passed by he attended his first drum n bass party and he was hooked!

After hearing ‘Under The Moon’ which would appear on Viper Recordings ‘Acts of Mad Men’ album, Smooth was signed to the label and later went onto release his first single ‘7th Sense’ / ‘Squirm’ (feat. KG) on Viper’s sister label, Viper VIP. Smooth is also one half of Telekinesis who recently made their debut on Breed 12 Inch label, as well as one third of City of Dogs, whose track ‘Absolutely Flawless’ was featured on Pendulum’s Radio1 Essential Mix. 

2011 was a breakout year for Smooth, starting off with the massive single 'Feel So Free' on Viper VIP, which was followed by 'Calling' and Smooth's absolutely immense remix of the Matrix & Futurebound classic 'Strength 2 Strength' on Viper's 'Worldwide 001' album. This was followed by two tracks on Viper's 'Summer Slammers 2011' album, with 'Want It' and 'Alienated' (as Telekinesis). 

Smooth has gained a legion of new followers over the course of 2012 with his massive ‘Blinded By The Light EP’ released in January which featured no less than seven essential cuts which showed the amazing range of the young producer. Busy on the remix front as well, Smooth has provided official remixes for smash hits such as Camo & Krooked – ‘Get Dirty’ (feat. TC) and Seven Lions – ‘Below Us’ (feat. Shaz Sparks), as well as the upcoming Matrix & Futurebound single ‘Magnetic Eyes’ (feat. Baby Blue) and Modestep’s new single ‘Another Day’.

Now ready to launch the next chapter of his career, Smooth has set his sights on working towards his debut album on Viper Recordings which will surely catapult him amongst the elite producers in drum and bass. Serving as the first album single, ‘Virgo Cluster’ is the perfect showcase of Smooth’s trademark anthemic dancefloor funk which he is becoming world renown for.

One of the very first artists to sign to the fledgling Hospital label - way back at the turn of the millennium, Danny Byrd's own inimitable take on soulful, vocal Drum + Bass has become a staple in the scene. His use of hip hop, house and R&B influences immediately began turning heads with his first Hospital outings. The Bath based, brandy drinking producer has been responsible from some massive rave anthems over the years, which has gained him Radio One success and international recognition.

Having signed to the label in the early noughties, Danny Byrd released a number of singles, such as "Do It Again" (2000), "Changes" (2001) and "Dog Hill" (2006), However, it was not until 2008 that Danny delivered his long awaited debut long player "Supersized". Having spent years honing his craft, the album was an excellent display of his skills and featured massive anthems such as "Shock Out", "From Bath With Love" and "Red Mist (feat I-Kay)". The album gained support from Radio One heavy hitters such as Annie Mac and Zane Lowe, as well as the mighty Andy C. The VIP version of "Red Mist" catapulted its way onto the daytime Radio One playlist and received over six hours of Radio One play in 2009, all to itself!

Danny's next major release was an update of liquid rave classic "Sweet Harmony" (feat. Liquid). The hit single reached number one in the UK dance singles chart and took Danny's sound to a whole new audience. Championing a revival of classic dance music sounds along with his own unique and forward thinking production the second Danny Byrd studio album "Rave Digger" was unleashed October 2010. The lead single "Ill Behaviour feat I-Kay" smashed it's way into the UK top 40, swiftly followed up by Radio One play listings for "We Can Have It All" and "Tonight (feat. Netsky)".

Entering 2011, the “Rave Digger Special Edition” was released and later in the year, Danny launched his short-lived but impressive live show at Hospitality Brixton in September. Bursting back onto the scene in 2012 with the incendiary “Blaze The Fire (Rah!)”, Danny teamed up with the legendary General Levy for this smash hit single. The recent Radio 1 premiership of his latest double-sided single "4th Dimension // Bad Boy (Back Again)" with futuristic, 1995 dnb and jungle influences, gripped his loyal fans in anticipation for the release of his third artist album "Golden Ticket" which is due to drop at the end of May 2013. 

This year, the Byrd is definitely the word...
