And we're back at it with the fifth addition of our DRBM series.

This time we look to a selector who has been a real favourite for many years and I'm glad to now call him a friend. A man who seems to locate and procure the slices that everyone wants but just can't find. It is of course Enchanted Rhythms. With more bangers than your local greasy spoon and a bag deeper than the seven seas, there was no doubt he'd put something special together for the occasion.

Next up on the EARFUL OF podcast we have the Leeds based DJ, @djhurrell who’s part of the newly formed coalition with @peakybeatsrecords and @pinder001, 'Northern Division’.

Having been DJing since 2012/13, Luke’s taken his craft all over the country. He moved to Leeds 3/4 years ago which is where he truly found his feet and started to built a solid foundation for himself. “Fresh city, new people, new venues and finally a decent record store (Tribe Records). I’ve only been collecting records solidly for three years now, mostly UKG and Dubstep stuff. My collection is largely older UKG, but I’ve been buying all the wicked new releases that are popping up all over! Luckily we have a banging community and finding/sharing music is so easy. I try to support as many new artists/labels as I can the same as people have done for me”

Hurrell’s main influences are EL-B, Mike Millrain, Gurley, Brotherhood and Sully. “Anything with ragga vocal or on the darker end of the spectrum hits the sweet spot for me”, whilst he considers DJ’s like Mick James, Perception (Moodswing), Ollie Rant, Shai Spooner (Entity:London) and Highrise (Shuffe'N'Swing), to be setting the levels at the moment (to name but a few). 

Fully emerging himself into the community has lead to some exciting guest mixes over the past year including a Garage Hour for @RinseFM and guesting for Smokey Bubblin’ B on Flex FM. Just recently, the Northern Division boys contributed 2.5 hours for the U.K Hun series which in proving to be a really exciting project. 

“I’ll be getting back on producing soon and will be making tunes with Peaky and Pinder as soon as this lockdown business is over so keep an ear out for that as well as more ND mixes”

As for the EARFUL OF Hurrell mix, expect full spectrum UKG with plenty of unreleased bits and tasty flavours perfect for a Sunday Session on lockdown!

New Yorker @acemo is an artist with an intense work rate. In the DJ booth he races through tunes, rhythms and styles with an insatiable sense of energy, and in the studio he is as prolific as they come. He has put out four EPs in the last year that take in jungle updates, battered techno and euphoric bass, and his self-released Existential album in late December came with a more thoughtful and philosophical dimension.

This week's mix is a bumping one that hits the ground running. Impassioned and uplifting house soon gets you locked before you rough ride through dusty breakbeats, twisted acid and percussive work outs. Kinetic juke and footwork styles and more fist pumping, brain frying house are all touched upon throughout this most wide-ranging selection and breathless selection, so strap in!

For the 2nd instalment of the mix series which focuses on those “sunday energy vibes” with UKG - we have a takeover from one of our favourite labels. Their Bandcamp description describes their direction perfectly - “Creativity without order. A platform for music with no signature sound - for the lovers and the listeners.” Their output since they started just shows their versatility of the label itself with a wide range of sounds from jazz to house to breakbeat. You name it.

It’s the first time i’ve contributed to a UKG channel so it was a pleasure putting together some favourites, some unreleased bits from friends, and a few shameless bangers from Mike Millrain just for good measure. Here’s my sunday dim sum recipe, had a lot of fun recording it and it came together in the first take so that’s always nice. Strictly steppers and blastoise. much love, ell x

@enchantedrhythms : I was sharing some 2-step music with a friend about 6 or 7 years ago and he said "have you heard these SlapFunk guys", he put on Raw Joints #3 with it's serious bassline business and I've been checkin' the vibe ever since. To me SlapFunk is groovy, bangin' house music and beyond.
