SMUT Press is delighted to present a very special b2b for our first mix in our sounds of SMUT mix series by DJ Garden Party, the moniker of Mercorn and Bull Horris.  Both Bull and Mercorn are dear friends of the press and are exceptional talents and we couldn’t be more excited to present this mix as our debut to you. 

As a founder of Skin & Blister club (a creative platform supporting female-identifying, trans and non-binary creatives in Dublin)  Mercorn is an undeniable force to be reckoned.  Mercorn has been going from one success to the next. Having recently appeared on Hoer radio, Mercorn has recently launched her own mix series Crossfade which launches on the 7th April at Hen's Teeth. Be sure to check it out, or you can always catch Mercorn at this year's edition of Life Festival.  ;)

Bull is no stranger to the press at all having blessed our launch party back in February with some high energy psychedelic tracks in the hifi room of Hen’s Teeth.  Bill has been skyrocketing on the club circuit in Dublin, playing Strawberries and the infamous Izakaya basement, but most recently it was his set at Adonis in Venue Mot last Saturday that has firmly cemented him as one to watch over the next while.

“DJ Garden Party is the pseudonym of the Mercorn & Bull Horris collaboration. Separately they’ve cultivated names and sounds for themselves over the past two years since starting out at the same time as close friends. Now they cast aside their usual aliases for a name that nods toward the origin of the pair, playing at house and garden parties across Dublin during the closure of clubs over the last two years. Expect progressive house/trance, acid undertones and the odd psychedelic tease, combined with 90s rave and enticing vocals throughout.”

Back on the annual 7” excursion, Warning presents you this special split release by YOUR PLANET IS NEXT and JOTEL CALIFORNIA, adding new twists to eternal classics.

While the art of reinterpretation by Your Planet Is Next needs no further introduction after his legendary takes on “Believe” and “Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others”, he still doesn't fail to surprise with his gentle way of picking up the big hit by Snap! and taking it on a melancholic yet energetic waltz.

On the flip, Berlin up and comer Jotel California from the Warning Family covers Eisbær by Swiss Post-Punk heroes Grauzone. He shifts it up a gear or two, coating the rather heavy vibe of the original with sharp Electro breaks, giving it a very contemporary makeover.

Putting the cherry on this already obscenely sweet cake is no one else then British lord of the Donk himself: DJ FINGERBLAST remixing the A Side as a digital bonus, available exclusively via Bandcamp. (Remix is NOT included in this preview/snippet)

"I recorded this mix while I was going through a difficult emotional situation. And I feel like you can sense that dark energy throughout the whole mix. Nonetheless there are highs and there is playfulness in the mix, probably even one or two solid dance floor tracks. Possible occasions could be a get together with friends at home, getting into the mood before the club or maybe even getting sweaty to it with a (beloved) person. On whatever occasion this mix is listened to, I would prescribe a nice red wine to it."

We’re honored to have @soucidj of @raiders_records drop this luscious mix for us. Renowned for her fast-paced club, high energy mixes and productions full of breaks, footwork, jungle and more, this co-founder of Raiders is making waves.
