“I recorded this mix at home right before I’m jetting off on a wee holiday to relax for a few days after a really busy Summer and festival season! I’ve had such an amazing time playing in so many different wonderful settings over the last few months, so I’ve gathered some of my favourite tunes from the period to say goodbye to an amazing Summer! With her undeniable stage presence and magnetic energy, Hayley Zalassi has quickly stamped her name on the UK’s underground music scene as one to watch.

Taking inspiration from her time working in the legendary Scottish venue “The Arches” to transform her life from behind the bar to behind the decks. The Glasgow born and bred DJ has been making quite the splash in her home country. Frequently labelled as the new Queen of Scottish House Music and with such legendary names as Harri & Domenic, Mr. G and Kerri Chandler championing her vision (the later even going b2b with Hayley at the Sub Club New Year’s Day 2023 celebrations!) it is safe to say that the future of Scottish House is looking very very healthy!

Love int. has always had a special place in our hearts and with it the beach stage has kind of become a home from home over the years. 
We’re always very grateful for the ongoing support and involvement. Like a residency the regulatory can bread a strong understanding and confidence about how and what to play. This set genuinely comes from our love for the festival, and with it highlights our approach threading a story to showcase our style and vibe. There’s some imperfections but hopefully that adds to the authenticity of the moment.

Tambores En Benirras is the alias of Graham Newby AKA 'DJ Gripper'. A month after the release of his debut album as Tambores En Benirras, 2021’s fabulous Orbe Dotodo, Graham Newby’s life changed forever. After years of living with a visual impairment, his sight had deteriorated so much that he was declared “registered blind”. For a man who had spent decades dividing his time between travelling, DJing, running clubs and lengthy sessions in his studio, it was a genuinely life-changing moment.

It was against this backdrop, and the need to alter his working methods that Ondas Horizontales, the second Tambores En Benirras album, took shape. Inspired by a mixture of daydreaming, visualisation, immersion in other people’s music (escapism that provided mood enhancement rather than a specific set of ideas) and long periods spent soaking up the sun in Ibiza, the album is the most vividly detailed, sonically colourful, and sun-soaked collection that Newby has released to date.

Newby’s declining sight forced him to stop spending long spells staring at a screen, undoubtedly slowing the production process. Yet it also allowed him to reconnect with his emotions, appreciate the storytelling and mood-shifting potential of music, and mine mind’s eye memories of places and spaces that have meant much to him over the years.

Jamison Isaak has been releasing music as @teendaze since 2010. Over the past 13 years, his music has navigated a multitude of different sounds, and his 2021 LP Interior landed him the JUNO Award for Electronic Album of the Year. He's also been busy DJing across North America in the past few years, and recently started a residency on Dublab. We are not worthy! A big scalp for us here at Monologues as we invite one of our all-time favourite production outfits to contribute to the series. This '92-'24 retrospective from one of the mightiest names in house features unreleased Gabriels + Usher remix exclusives and a special edit of 'Lazy' exclusive to this mix. No-one does chunky house music better and we're delighted to have these history-makers be part of our long-running series. Strap yourself in for a tonking hour.

*How would you describe your sound?*

Our sound is for the dancefloor. Pure and simple. Whether that's the back room of a pub in Colnbrook or a huge mega tech rave in Mexico.

*What and who inspires you and influences your sound?* 

I guess it's all sorts of music that's influenced us over the years. Going way back to tribal music through Blues, jazz, rnb, reggae, soul, disco, house, techno, classical etc etc. We always go back to early house stuff if we're ever stuck in the studio. Just get back to the raw basics and go again!

*Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?*

This '92224' mix is basically a snap shot of some of the stuff that we, with Ashley for a huge chunk of it, have done or been involved with over the years. From our very first production together ('Muzik Xpress') bang up to the minute with our soon-to-be-released Gabriels remix. Getting this mix together has made me appreciate just how much we've done and makes me feel very proud of what 3 lads from west London have achieved musically. Listening back to it there's definitely a thread that runs through this 32 years of music and I think that hopefully, you can hear those answers to the first 2 questions contained within.
