It refers to a kind of post-70's hippie utopia but I still find strong connections to our present time. I love the way Brigitte Fontaine & Areski both mock everything with naive and insolent attitude. Although I made it sounds darker (as actual world is), like a looped mantra dub trying to cast a spell, disenchant the blinded and rise the black sheep."

James Shinra's whirlwind year is rounded off with some final words via Craigie Knowes. PREMIERE: James Shinra - At The End Of The World

Less than one year after his 2019 release entitled ‘Trans Asia Express’, DVS NME returns with a collection of original tracks that were produced between 2018-2020. This 30-track album is a not-so-subtle nod to the Electro inspirations that have helped to influence the DVS NME sound that has developed over the course of the last 20 years. The most obvious influence is that of Detroit pioneers Drexciya and subsequent projects by Gerald Donald. The album pays homage to Dopplereffekt’s 1999 album ‘Gesamtkunstwerk’ in both its title and cover art. The release ranges from brooding, downtempo machine funk all the way to dancefloor-oriented melodic Electro. The album relies heavily on the sounds of classic Electro machines like Mono/Poly, MS-20, SH-101, Jupiter-8, Juno-106, JX-3P, TB-303, Polysix, TR-606, OB-8, TR-808, ARP Odyssey, and TR-909. DVS NME is the man behind the weekly radio show/daily blog called 'Dark Science Electro' and has been a dedicated contributor for the Electro community for the last 10 years. He shares his love of Electro music by posting Electro-affiliated news, art, mixes, albums, memes, concerts, tracks, gear and more. Our introductory pick for 2020 is a compilation from the French studio addict “@Yuksek” who has redefined the realms of disco and synth-pop with his productions and through his imprint “Party fine”. His love for NewYork scene and French electronic music led him to collaborate with an array of iconic artists such as Moby, JD Samson, Gorillaz to name a few. 

This 5th chapter of an exclusive compilation containing unreleased tracks from new members such as Dimitri from Paris, Jean Tonique, Dombrance offers a smooth blend of Party fine’s aesthetic and euphoria. 

Our personal pick from this compilation is “The Other Day” by Getaroom! (@getaroomofficial) who joins forces with “Chloe" from C.A.R (@c_a_r), whose eclectic vocals transcends the realms of disco. This track is a statement that “Disco” is a subjective genre and it has always been difficult to see the boundaries of the movement and all the influences it has ever had or will have on the electronic scene.

The next 12 incher on Wrong Era is made by Marching Machines, a duo made of two Belgian powerhouses: Dimitri Andreas and Spacid. Their love for electronic machine manipulation and their musical history that spans over 2 decades, built an excellent foundation for this brand new project. “Lonesome” is a slow burning dark electro track with howling and gloomy synths that flow into acidic tendencies. “Desolat” continues on the emotional path of the previous track, embracing solitude on a broken rhythm, ending up in arpeggiating classic and cosmic italo track. In succession of that, there’s “Driven” which moves up to dancefloor dynamics by using harder and raw sounds, combined with an analogue pulsewave sound generator and building into a release of energy with wavy synths and smashing snares. The final track is a remix of “Lonesome” by one of Wrong Era’s label bosses Fabrizio Mamarella. While the original idea is still intact, the remix is a definite bigger and faster version, implying a stark contrast that still remains powerful, perfectly made for the dancefloor.
