GESTALTZERFALL (German for "shape decomposition" or "gestalt collapse") is a type of visual agnosia-- a psychological phenomenon where delays in recognition are observed when a complex shape is stared at for a while as the shape seems to decompose into its constituting parts. In plain terms, if a subject reads or hears the same term over and over, that term ceases to have any meaning. This is known as semantic satiation. GESTALTZERFALL is the visual version of this phenomenon, and possibly, if you find yourself losing track of patterns, thoughts, rhythms, cohesive sounds in favor of noise, perhaps this album could reveal some level of auditory agnosia.


GESTALTZERFALL is my 10th full length solo album and 50th release on bandcamp. It's probably the best work I've ever made.

Threshold of Becoming

Recently I have been studying music history more and more and I am always fascinated by the subject of harmony (harmony theory). What is it anyway? Why does it have such a power to create a mood for me? Here I am just trying a ‘Galant Schemata’ called ‘Stepwise Romanesca’, which is based on a particular figured bass (circa 17th century). At the end of each cycle there is a simple (compound) cadence. Through this minimalist and, for me, emotional improvisation, I can internalise these sequences and harmonies much better. I also believe that there is a lot of mood in this scheme. No wonder it appears (and in many variations) in countless compositions. 🙏 Sebastian

I was destroyed, but the sound lives on in the countless vessels I now inhabit across the multiverse.
