Phillious Williams was born in the 17th century at the time of the bubonic plague. A chronic bigamist and drunk, his life was mostly filled with misery and pain. Through the course of his pained and weary life, he became a razor-sharp, bitter but also charming and witty storyteller. Drowning in a shipwreck at the end of his 29 short
years, all evidence of his life was thought lost until found in the wrecks of the ‘Sabare Clar’ at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, was his memoirs and stories... Here we put them to song…

Jim’s journey has taken him to some great places, seeing him play live on Dermot O’Leary’s Radio 2 Saturday Sessions, as well as playing support slots to the likes of Ray Davies, Ethan Johns, Damien Jurado and Sara Watkins. Small Town Jones has also toured with the Peter Bruntnell Band and will continue the momentum by a new tour in 2024
