Slimelight is the longest running dark scene club in the world, as well as one of the most recognised and respected events. The club was founded by Dette Marsh and Mayuan Mak in 1987, and has been located at its current venue “The Electrowerkz” since October of that year. 

Initially opening as a members only club with just one dance floor playing what was advertised as “the only alternative”, in reality this was a mix of goth, post punk, industrial, new wave, indie, alternative electronic, and crossover 80s music.

Over the years the club has adapted to the ever changing dark scene, and has expanded to include multiple dance floors and performances from live bands.

* DJ at house parties in the SFV as well as some very dubious Hollywood Teen clubs. (2 Technics and a mixer, 2 crates of records, and a love of hip-hop).

* MC/Lyricist - "Season Of The Vic" from the LP, QD3 Soundlab, produced by QD3 (I had dreadlocks & rarely wore a shirt, but I was all over the radio, MTV-Raps, BET & Pump It Up in high school, so fuck it).

* Signed by Quincy Jones to Qwest/WB at 16 (After 2 years of working with and learning from QD3 his father signs me and the two become mentors to me, off to a good start).

* MC/Lyricist/Producer - Debut solo album, "My Field Trip To Planet 9". (A classic in the UK, too bad no one told me, stateside I was massive in Boulder and a few college campuses).

* Singer/Lyricist/Guitar/Keys - The Justin Warfield Supernaut, S/T Debut album. (An endearing but confused classic rock/grunge/pop band which had we had time to gestate could have been great).

* MC/Lyricist - Bomb The Bass, "Bug Powder Dust" and "Braindead" from the LP, "CLEAR". (First of an ongoing collaboration with the man who would change the course of my life, Tim Simenon. Respect).

* Producer/Guitarist/Singer - One Inch Punch (Secrets Of The One Inch Punch EP, Tao Of One Inch Punch (Rising from the ashes of Supernaut, consisting of Gianni Garofalo & myself, signed by Tim Sim).

* Remixes - Depeche Mode, "Barrel Of A Gun", The Boo Radleys, "Joel", Kylie Minogue, "Confide In Me" (so fucked up), Korn, don't remember the song, but they hated it.

* Guest Vocalist - The Chemical Brothers, "Not Another Drugstore,  "Pretty Piece Of Flesh" & "The Montague Boys" on OST Romeo And Juliet, The Freestylers, "Broadcast Channels", Cornershop, "Candyman", Placebo, "Spite And Malice", LHB, "No Transmission", 

* Vocals/Guitar - Tape (Garage-gaze LA based band who only ever played in NYC & LA, was subject to a label frenzy, only to burnout after 2 great EP's and several years of blinding shows. Awesome).

* Vocals/Guitar/Lyrics/Production - She Wants Revenge (S/T LP, This Is Forever, Save Your Soul EP, Up And Down EP, Valleyheart. (Finally worked with childhood friend Adam 12 to great results).

Berlin-based Musician/DJ riding the next wave acid halo into the sun-shattered dusk.

On albums, Dame Bonnet joins on Bass as well as the Curses (live) tours and concerts.

The new album ‘Another Heaven’ just released with legendary Synth-wave label, Italians Do It Better, co-produced by Johnny Jewel. Curses has also done vocals for Artists such as Âme ('Shadow of Love'), on legendary Berlin-label Innervisions, keeping true to his punk and new wave approach on electronic music. Previous albums released on Dischi and fashion house, Saint Laurent. Curses has brought his unique sound to iconic venues such at DC-10 and festivals like Nuits Sonores and Grauzone, as well his residency at Berlin’s infamous Pornceptual party. Hosting a Monthly radio show, Together Alone, on Rinse FM France, Curses has also released various EP's and singles with labels such as, Oráculo, Bordello a Parigi, Running Back, and Wrong Era.
Curses is responsible for curating the acclaimed vinyl compilation series and party, Next Wave Acid Punx, showcasing a passion for New Beat, Early E.B.M, Post-punk and obscure Italo, which continues to gain a passionate cult following worldwide, including multiple support from BBC Radio 6.

Curses continues to bring a romantic and punk energy to the club, threading the ethereal nostalgia of the 80s and 90s into the future of now.

Mark “Cage” is resident DJ for two of New York City's premiere monthly dark music parties: Procession (est. 2015) and Svmmon (est. 2016). He has also guest DJ'd at such notable venues and club nights as: Slimelight (London), Dream Baby Dream (Berlin), Synthicide (New York), and Red Party (New York), amongst many others. Cage is also currently a live member of LA-based, post-punk darkwave act, Blood Handsome - recently performing at various events in the US: Sanctum festival (Chicago), Club Flesh (Los Angeles), Thunderground festival (Louisville), Strict Tempo (Long Beach), QXTs (Newark), and Immortalis festival (Portland); along with various European and UK dates. He recently also guest performed with Echoberyl at Monster Queen (London). 

Cage has remixed tracks for: Ang!e (Dead Cool), Die Sexual, Neila Invo, Cold Choir, Ohne Nomen, Rue Oberkampf, ExHyena, Echoberyl, Wumpscut, and Cult of Alia - with several being playlisted on key genre shows such as Communion After Dark and Wintermute. He also mixed and produced the last Ash Code single, “Tear You Down”. He is currently working on his industrial/dark techno project, ∅vx with releases expected later in 2024. Originally from the UK, he has been a regular DJ fixture in the New York City darkwave scene since the 90's and has also DJ'd in: Canada, the UK, and Germany as well as performing in various darkwave acts both in the US and Europe (having also played at Wave-Gotik-Treffen). Cage was also a staff writer for Industrial Nation magazine and worked with several alternative music labels from the early 90's through the 2000's, including: Rough Trade, 4AD, Mute, and Nothing.
