For the twelfth episode of the podcast, Mannheim-based Maurce delivers high-energy techno cuts that turn back time to the 90s. After shaping the region's sound as part of the duo Impulsive Silence and the decline crew over the past few years, playing numerous clubs in Germany, he recently launched his solo project as Maurce. We're in Dublin for the Local Selection, as one of the countries fastest rising techno producers, Billy Spike Iland provides us with the latest mix. We've been huge fans of his tunes for quite a while so we're delighted to feature a mix from him.

Pre-lockdown Billy was organising stand out club shows in Dublin’s vibrant scene, bringing over the likes of Mortiz Von Oswald, CEM, Mama Snake and DMX Krew to the capital. 

Previous gigs include support for Mortiz Von Osawald, DMX Krew, Ryan Elliot, CEM and Mama Snake. As well as making his international debut at Jaded London & Festival Forte in Portugal, alongside artists such as Oscar Mulero, Paula Temple, Boston 168, Jonas Kopp and Dave Clarke.

With no clubs and festivals for the last year, Billy has used the time wisely focusing on the studio, with numerous releases under his belt in the last year alone on the likes of Alien Sound Trax, Sulino Records & Expel your demons Records and most recent, Waterford's Kriminal Records. 

Expect an hour of hypnotic, driving techno that we've become accustomed to with his releases and style. This is your Wednesday soundtrack.

For the third episode of the Mute Frequency Podcast, I had the pleasure of catching up with AeronXTC aka Shawn Darcy. A staple as a DJ in the underground techno scene he has been running shows in Dublin for over a decade. AeronXTC is a co-owner of both Fuinneamh and Index as well as being a District 8 Resident and the boss behind Research Label. He has just recently begun his Music production journey, his tracks already receiving support from some of the biggest names in the industry.

This is possible and necessary in order to strengthen the cohesion within the population and to show #solidarity among each other. Through small gestures of attention, helpfulness, encouragement, contact, encouraging words and especially #sharing #music, we can help each other to overcome this unprecedented state of emergency and to remain an #inclusive and #supportive #community.

Our goal is to create a new #opportunity for #DJs from all over the world to share their music without borders and stay #connected #digitally. Moreover the artists will share their personal opinion about the #quarantine situation, explain how it affects them and how they try to deal with it.

Even if it is no longer possible for us to be together physically for an indefinite period of time and to live out our joy and love for music in #clubs and at #festivals, we can still #participate in each other’s lives through an online connection and stand this through together. Although states have #locked their #borders to each other, we shouldn’t create borders in our heads. Now is the time to get rid of all the borders in our minds and tear down the walls in our hearts - we’re in this #together.

BIOGRAPHY:
Doug Cooney has cultivated his knowledge of Techno music over many years. Doug's passion for this craft runs deep and his DJ sets span the full spectrum of Techno, past and present. His style and attention to detail have earned him warm up sets for many of his Techno heroes, with Dave Clarke, James Ruskin, UVB and Abstract Division to name a few. He has been seen playing in venues throughout Ireland as well as numerous international bookings including a trip to the Tresor Club in Berlin for the New Faces event being one of the highlights of his career to date. Doug brings a similarly tireless ethos to his own productions, which blend classic analogue synthesis with contemporary digital sound design.
Since completing a master’s degree in Music Technology, Doug has released on labels such as Orbis, GND, Gynoid, EFR, Bastardo Electrico, N&N Records, Research & Orgone alongside RLSD Records his own imprint laying a strong foundation for his future in music. His productions has received support from Dave Clarke, Amelie Lens, Ben Sims, Luke Slater, Rodhad, KR!Z, and Answer Code Request. Doug’s tracks have been remixed by Aiken, Binny, Lee Holman and Dystopian records Jon Hester, proving his calibre in the international arena.
Doug is also a part of a strong team at BIFE DJ & Music Production Techniques course, working alongside Sunil Sharpe investing in the future generations of Irish Electronic music and further developing his craft in great company.

Shannen has quickly turned her hand to Production and applied the same tenacity and integrity making quick progress with the discipline, so, we're looking forward to her first release in the near future.
