Gegründet wurde Explizit Einsam im Jahr 1992 von dem Musiker, Komponisten und Sänger Andreas Ohle mit dem Ziel, romantisch verträumte und traurig nachdenkliche Lieder zu schreiben um sich selbst zu finden. Explizit Einsam kombiniert Gothic und Darkwave mit mittelalterlichen und elektronischen Klängen. Die Songtexte sind eine Reise durch die Tiefe des inneren Ichs und handeln von Themen wie Tod, Einsamkeit, unerfüllter Liebe, Sinnlosigkeit des Lebens und Grausamkeit der eigenen Existenz.
