The 'Smiles aRe Free' (Demo) is up.  Still restricted to Garageband for recording/editing so quality isn't the best.

Written in just a few days; it's not the most exciting, crazy or generally outstanding piece you'd of ever heard but equally it means something.. To me at least.

Edit 2017 (4yrslater) - This is the first song I ever wrote. I say song loosely. I think I'd owned my Uke for about a month, if that, and I only knew about 4 or 5 chords. It's a good throwback, to show me how far I've come and how much I've learnt, and to keep me pushing forwards.

When I was much younge I cut off all my eyebrows
Didn't think that much at the time
But the teachers they intefered, they sent me to a counsillor
And she just sat there always asking why?

When I was about thirteen or maybe slightly younger
I started chicken scratching at my skin
As I got older it progressed till there was almost nothing left
But a canvas of questions simply asking why?

Some years later at sixteen I joined the craze of weed smoking
Down the side of co op toking away
One day mum confronted me 
I told the truth *yea I get high

Now 23 and times times still passing
I don't know if this is my thing
I'm not very good at writing songs

FEEL LIKE I DO (ACOUSTIC JAM)

The musical content of the pieces consists of many layers of commensurable phrases that result in a drifting and convergence on a particular chord (divided into sections as indicated in the score). This system is hidden within a common time structure.

The piece contains a chanted text for the players within the ensemble. The significance of the text is beyond the scope of this programme note but concerns the convergence between the two topics of the hexagonal storm on northern pole of Saturn and the pineal gland that exists in the geometric center of the head. Both of these elements have been regularly represented by a hexagon, pinecone or black cube among other things throughout the history of many cultures. They are also mirrored or referenced, intentionally or otherwise, in the practices of many major religions and so arguably have a significant historical connection to and influence on society at large.

This piece attempts to symbolically cleanse and heal the mind of the listener by adopting the techniques, symbols and methods related to these symbols; Chanting, repetition, disorientation contrasting with clarity, geometry and numerology. However it should be noted that there is no occult content or nefarious intentions contained within this piece, nor is it affiliated with any religion or established way of thinking. It merely exists as an allegory for the universal right to free thinking, however strange and challenging to accepted paradigms within our society.

It would be my wish that the listener adopt the following meditation during listening though it is by no means essential (this meditation is intended to calm and cleanse this mind);

i)	Imagine a small black cube in the center of your head.
ii)	Imagine a hexagonal energy field/or storm moving slowly anti-clockwise around this cube.
iii)	Remind yourself you are free, your mind is your own and in the grand scheme of things there is nothing to fear in this world or any other.
