Das "Orchestre du LÖTLÄB" der Galerie Pfund & Dollar performte zum "Festival für selbstgebaute Musik" 2020 in 3 Akten auf dem RAW-Gelände in Berlin zu ihrer Elektroschrott-Sound-Installation "DE-OBSOLESZENZIATOR". Dies ist der dritte Teil.

"Die Obsoleszenz ist allgegenwärtig und doch immer nur versteckt und (zu) selten diskutiert. Als ein treibender Faktor des kapitalistischen Systems und des damit verknüpften Kreislaufs von "Neukauf und Entsorgung" anstelle von "Instandsetzung oder Nutzungsänderung" ist diese Methode der geplanten Begrenzung der Haltbarkeit diverser Produkte als quasi systemerhaltend (wegwerf-)gesellschaftlich akzeptiert bzw. kaum hinterfragt. Die Klang-Installation "De-Obsoleszenziator" führt genau diese Realitäten ad absurdum, indem dem veralteten, kaputten, ungenutzten, am Straßenrand hinterlassenen sogenannten "Elektroschrott" neues Leben in Form einer Stimme eingehaucht wird. Druckermotoren getrieben von Merklin-Trafos, die Zeit ihrer angedachten Tätigkeit kilometerweise Papier umgewalzt haben, dürfen nun an Saiten klingend in die Jahre gekommene, von TFT abgelöste Röhrenmonitorgehäuse zum schallen bringen während weggeworfene Lautsprecherboxen knopfgesteuert in von Hardware leergefegten Computergehäusen schnarren. Ob das hier entstehende Klangerlebnis als ein melodisch Schönes zu verstehen ist, wäre anzuzweifeln. Doch die Idee hinter dem von Benjamin Wiemann und Lukas Kannemann initierten Repurposing-Projekts (welches nun in der Galerie Pfund&Dollar in Hamburg in Form einer regelmäßigen Bastelsession genannt LÖTLÄB ein Zuhause findet) ist auch nicht einen wohltönenden Zusammenklang zu erzeugen sondern eher den Augenmerk auf die oben beschriebene gesellschaftliche Disharmonie und den Umgang mit den uns zur Verfügung stehenden Resourcen zu lenken."

a quick test of the nlc dp filter (headphones recommended):

a bunch of chopped up noodles from a doepfer system stuck inside a squid salmple, the mix of which is randomly addressed, reduced, and crushed, then sent to the dpf, and plays alongside a main sine noodle from an a-143-9. the diode half of the dpf has a high-ish q setting (which is kinda tame compared to other filters) and a low cut off, and later is modulated by a low rate of digital noise from the a-117 and a sine lfo from a second a-143-9. the transistor side (which has no input and is internally fed by the diode side via photo-couplers) has a maxed out q  and an even lower cut off, and its cv2 is randomly assigned the 2 oscillators section from the a-117 808 source via a switch, which gives it that wild feedback sound. the output of the dpf is monitored from the sum output, and a tiny bit of reverb is added in ableton.

this filter is very  touchy, and depending on how its built, can have a very narrow range on control (as mine does,) and the transistor ladder only really gets fired up if the diode ladder is hot enough (mine uses MCT9001 photo-couplers,) so you can get all these really interesting 'edge of breakup' sounds, to use the dirt-pedal/guitar amp parlance of the day...and its quite nice if you can dial it in, but it does takes some patience.

it also gets *real* bonkers when you start swapping the q path and monitoring different outputs...but i haven't really figured out how to bend any of that to my will yet...

somehow the g0 does a weird glitchy stutter thing when it's own output goes into the reset input via a comparator to set the threshold of the pulse wave.

Sofa Music is proud to present the solo debut album of Norwegian composer and sound artist Tine Surel Lange. 

Works for Listening 1-10 is a series of spatial electro-acoustic works developed at Notam (NO), MISC (LT), and EMS (SE). All the works are made in 5th order ambisonics but have been presented in many different formats- as in this stereo decoding of the works.

In Works for Listening, there is a strong focus on listening-aesthetics and our psychological categorization of sound. Surrounding sound environments are created with material taken from everyday life: organic sound sources reconstructed to varying degrees by tone, rhythm, timbre, and layers. The sonic material in Works for Listening appears physical and tactile, and often abstracted from their original state. 
As Tine Surel Lange expresses herself: With Works for Listening, I hope to create inspiration for increased listening experiences in life.
