But seriously (here commenceth the expected bullsh!t...) - James Gale, born and bred in Bristol, England, with roots going deep into the West of England (Somerset, Devon and Cornwall - except Cornwall's not REALLY England, of course...) and South Wales, is now based near Göteborg/Gothenburg on the Swedish west coast. He is (so they say) a writer of original, sensitive and thought-provoking songs as well as a talented and charismatic singer and guitarist.

James's songs, numbering at the latest count well over 100, are for the most part solo efforts but include the fruits of several collaborations with other talented lyricists. He also has a repertoire of not far short of 1000 covers ranging from jazz-tinged standards to English traditional and touching most points in between - country, soft rock, blues, ballads...

VANCRYNES is the musical alter-ego of Angelo Saridis, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from South Gippsland, Australia. His music spans the genre spectrum with roots in early punk and post punk and a solid grounding in 90s alternative rock, his music fuses these influences with a deliberate intention.  Imagine Paul Dempsey and Tim Rogers had a love child with Black Francis and Kim Gordon as the godparents and Johny Marr as the favourite uncle...somewhere in that mix you will find VANCRYNES

Exploring themes that are predominantly a shared introspective reflection, there is a happy sad dynamic and a nostalgic sensibility to all the songs.  'I'm trying to share what's anxiety provoking for adults...and show that none of us really have our shit together...but at times there's something beautiful about admitting our failings and insecurities'.

VANCRYNES is guitar driven, sweat soaked and authentic which at times will make the listener chuckle and other times give you a reason to reflect.  It's still very much punk rock at heart but delivered with an equal portion of sensitivity and recklessness.

VANCRYNES is committed to capturing the immediacy of the songwriting process and moves quickly to capture songs as the moments of creation are fleeting 'I just want to get a general sense of the song recorded and move on to the next one.  If the songwriting is strong enough, then I hope it will carry through the more casual production approach.  My production is very loose and I will never even contemplate something like autotune'.  

Keeping it fresh and committed to the creative practice of songwriting, VANCRYNES sticks to a blistering regime of writing, producing and releasing with more than 100 songs completed in 2022 and that frenetic pace continues into 2023 and now 2024.  'To quote the famous philosopher Lloyd Christmas...I can't stop once I've started....it stings'

I started out in the Polish cassette underground in 1998. I've been recording tapes with simple folk/punk/blues/psychedelic songs, inspired by Syd Barrett, Velvet Underground, Monster Magnet, Woody Guthrie, Sawyer Brown, and Captain Beefheart. Those are the influences I remember today. I was using a pseudonym back then, Adam Sandosa, taken from the first Amon Duul LP, "Psychedelic Underground".

I never stopped making art, so here we are in the future.
