"I imagine that 20 years ago, a society of hard-working, secretive machines buried twenty miles below the surface of Proxima B began receiving the wispy artifacts of our Terran speech that had escaped our radio stations, sung like a gospel through the vacuum of deep space, to be intercepted by their above-ground sensors. I wonder if that would have been the first time they ever heard music and thought to take a break and dance. I wonder if they bump their own subsurface rhythms.
