Everybody loves a good mystery. The second chapter of the Nowhere Series brings you to France, Kalamazoo, Arnhem and Den Haag. Four forgotten dance floor bangers by folks who clearly remember the first summer of love, back in 1988.

First up is a dark and twisted acid track by @laurent-garnier. Flashback stems from 1997, but has aged like a good single malt whiskey from France. You better believe it.

It Talks To Me is proper Detroit techno, with it's abstract stabs and moody strings. Except it's from Poland, where US-born @d-knox now resides since 2005 and where he has pumped out an amazing discography. You can't get any closer to early Transmat-energy than with this raw track from 1995.

On the flip it is over to Holland, for two forgotten gems. Inferno came out on vinyl, back in 1993. On the legendary label Gyrate. It's a full on acid affair, with a massive break. Made by Dutchies Frederik (of Pako & Frederik fame), Eric De Man & Heiko van Eindhoven. For this release still vinyl only.

Solartrek by @roland-klinkenberg was picked up by I-F in 1995 for his Top Secret label. The energetic and surprisingly bright track is now remastered and available on vinyl again & digital platforms for the very first time.

Canadian DJ and soon to be producer Donotstealmyname delivered an energetic and powerful set at this summer’s Picnic Electronik Montreal that was foremost the result of growing into the electronic music scene and breathing it for more than five years. As part of the Montreal scene, a city where, according to the artist, Techno is still dominant, Sabrina Richer, Donotstealmyname’s real name, not necessarily represents a counterpart but rather rides her Nu Tech-House-wave with  references to House music as well as 90s infused tracks with a slight touch of trancey and ravey elements. It’s hardly surprising that she names a House-vet and two more tech-oriented artists as her (musical) inspiration or artists she’d like to share the decks with. Furthermore, Sabrina shares insights into the local scene, rolls out the red carpet for some of the crews and clubs in the city, takes us on a journey into her past and what she’s nostalgic about and also how she became involved with electronic music. Additionally Donotstealmyname mixed and compiled the latest edition of our art:cast-series.

Back in the nineties, Human Beings were pioneers in the Dutch techno scene. And The Matrix may well be their finest moment. SoHaSo gives this stone-cold classic the re-release it deserves, together with a magical Plaid-remix and a forgotten track, straight from DAT.

Together with Quazar and Fierce Ruling Diva, Utrecht-based duo Human Beings were among the very first brave enough to go live, back in 1992. Dance music was still called house or techno. Other flavors only came later.

Both Allert Aalders and Bert van der Grift were proper nerds. Their studio was filled to the brims with vintage synthesizers and drum computers and all machines were constantly challenged. Van der Grift sadly passed away in 2005 after a sudden cerebral haemorrhage, marking the abrupt end of Human Beings.

The Matrix ticks all the boxes of a proper Human Beings-tune: crystal clear melodies sweeping from corner to corner, ultra-clever drum programming and a main theme that knocks your socks right off. In the energetic live version, they have shaped the track to perfection. A secret weapon that works wonders on dancefloors, even 30 years later.

London duo Plaid strip The Matrix to its bare essentials, focusing on the main melody while giving the kick a bit more oomph in a Plaid kinda way.	

Ghost in the Shell is exactly that. A forgotten off-beat track, made during one of those many sessions in Bert's crampy studio. Its murky downtempo rhythms take a nod to both Meat Beat Manifesto and Renegade Sound Wave.

You do not necessarily associate the Mexican electronic music scene with the deeper nuances and facets but rather with Dark Disco and Melodic Techno. All the more Glo My’s way to walk the initially-named path is even more impressive. Originally from Mexico City Jimena, Glo My’s real name, now resides in Italy’s north, Milan to be more precise, spreading her ever groovey yet melodically demanding and sound-wise ambitious music to and with the world. Therefore the artist provides her listeners with a potpourri of Deep House, Breaks, UK Garage and keeps a ravey and with abstract textures sprinkled vibe, which elegantly and smoothly unites the before-mentioned genres and influences to one homogenous sound-experience adding up to the Glo My-way. Her own events, Hell Town, surely have helped Glo My to dive deeper into compiling her sets and creating unique tonal ecstasies but these days the artist distinguishes herself with several productions, something Glo My has only been doing for a little longer than four years. Her latest addings to her catalogue of musical outings are her track Sang Woo on Lis Sarroca’s Maai label, as well as an EP on Womxn Records called Lejos de Casa and another single track, Hey Kiss Me, on Bass Water Freak Out. Having been kissed by Glo My’s style, probably as softly as it was once sung about, there’s only one thing left to say: It’s either the Glo My Way or no way at all. You can convince yourself as the Milanese by choice compiled the latest edition of the art:cast series and talks her latest outing on Maai with us alongside some spicy information of how she became involved with electronic music, her home-county’s influence on her and much more.
