Almost 2 years after his last release on Apparel Music, Parisian producer Chevals strikes back with a new self-released single. ‘Think Twice’ marks the transition from Disco/House to a new chapter of Breaks and UKG-inspired sound. Both tracks are produced around the Think Break: ‘Do You Understand’ is a melodic piano House banger made for dancing and dreaming, while ‘Night Mode’ takes you on a space journey through syncopated beats and huge synths. 1997 re-issue. He's been around for centuries and has a discography the length of the country he is living in. Meet Helge Tømmervåg from Norway. Most people know him only by his artist name: Mind over MIDI. Instead of the capital Oslo, Tømmervåg resides in Kristianssund, a tiny city near the west coast.

Since his techno excursions in the late nineties, Mind over MIDI has been a trustworthy beacon in the icey seas of Nordic techno and ambient. Nowadays, many of his records are extremely hard to find. So, this re-release of an early single on Utrecht based SoHaSo comes as a real treat.

 Artic Beats 2 originally came out in 1997 and contains four killer tracks which tick all the boxes for techno lovers: mysterious, melancholic music with subzero melodies and razor-sharp, frost bitten hi hats.

DJs will head straight for the pulsating trip that forms 'Do You Want This Body', while lovers of ice-cold moods head over to closer 'Dry Cool Place', which makes you wanna book a hotel room in the famous artic circle hotel straight away. Essential release for all those who take Nordic techno seriously.

Pretty much all of us know the movie “Inception”, right? Habischman wanted to create a song following this concept so when he bumped into Brydon Hulse from Skymachine they got into the studio and magic happened.

A Dream Within A Dream was recorded in London with a HA-872 microphone and mixed with an old analog desk, giving this characteristic sound to the song, after a 1-hour jam between Habischman and Brydon. Isn’t this magic?

Remixing this gem, Edu Imbernon in an unexpected journey to the 80’s sounds blended with flying melodies and a huge breakdown.

Aera is the second name for remixing. He loves the idea of dreams within dreams. Actually the idea of the main synth sound came to his mind one morning while waking up. It was only a matter of recording it!

Closing the release, a special 4/4 edit of the original for the late-night sounds lovers.

If you are into psychedelic and adventurous electronica, you'll love So Oishi's second EP for the Dutch record label SoHaSo. Herbology is a five-part trip where acoustic and electronic elements merge in slow motion. On his last record, The Lithospere EP, Japanese producer So Oishi showed off his skills in a variety of styles. But this time, Oishi keeps things slow and dreamy for most of the ride. 

The opening track, The Opposite Shore, has a Heart of Darkness-kinda vibe, with strange noises emerging from the river banks somewhere deep in the jungle. On Canopy Rites, we've seem to have reached an African village, judging by the tribal rhythms coming from the shacks ashore. 

Next up is Artemis, the only proper club track on this otherwise intimate EP. With its kick drums and howling bass, it reminds us of early Underworld productions. It’s a surprising center piece on Herbology. With Sinking and Herbology we're back in chill out territories, where acoustic instruments like tablas and flutes float harmonically with electronic soundscapes. 

Japanese producer https://soundcloud.com/sooishi has carved out his little safe space on planet SoHaSo and we rather like it there. We hope you do too.
