Music Genre: Deep House & Progressive House

Progressive House is typified by stimulating peaks and troughs (highest and lowest points in energy) throughout a track's duration. Layering different sounds on top of each other and slowly bringing them in and out of the mix is a key idea behind the progressive movement. 

The melodic side of progressive house which is what my show Sounds from Above, for the most part is about, (although it can and does blend with traditional progressive house) is packed with driving rhythms and forward thinking sounds. 

This episode of Sounds from Above is almost exclusively Anjunadeep and all tracks here certainly fit into that style. How would you describe the Anjunadeep sound? James Grant of Anjunadeep said

''In a broad sense, the genre refers to warm, slower-tempo house music that incorporates elements of jazz and soul, but the term has come to represent much more than that: a clear and growing demand in America for house music that doesn't fall into the cookie-cutter category of 'EDM.''

Trilucid is a collaboration between two incredibly passionate and unbelievably talented individuals, Andy MacDougall and Hilton Caswell. Formerly one of Andy MacDougall’s solo projects, Trilucid became a joint venture in 2013, following four years of the duo sharing studio space together. A shared love of soaring riffs and driving grooves established common musical ground, with Pryda, Markus Schultz and Mat Zo namechecked as their key contemporary influences. Their tracks have had huge success and global support, and we are proud to welcome them to Perfecto Black. 

Alex Collings is an incredibly talented DJ and producer, with a wealth of experience behind the decks. A veteran of the superclub era of the early naughties, Alex spent several years honing his skills across a number of genres as a resident of Es Paradis in Ibiza, and then travelling the world as a resident for global superclub Slinky. A versatile, energetic and engaging performer, Alex has enjoyed guest sets at clubs across the planet, festivals such as Homelands, iconic London venues such as The Cross & Pacha, and a 3 year monthly residency at Turnmills until it so sadly closed.
