Sticking to his guns in spite of the demands of contemporary clubland, Zo prefers to adopt a more multi layered vision, forever exploring new ways to incorporate different styles into his sound. It's a unique take on the electronic music persuasion that even though it may not be typical of more EDM-orientated artists, it's reaping accolades for the LA-based producer all the same.

Having demonstrated his credentials as one of the finest exponents in the progressive side of trance, Canadian rising star Solid Stone gears up for his debut album with an important piece released as a single, entitled Pushing Up.

The Montreal native signalled his intentions for a groove-laiden album with double EP Profound and Get On My Vinyl prior to Christmas, and with Pushing Up he collaborates with one of trance's distinguished voices, his good friend Jennifer Rene. The result is outstanding, with a deeply, darkened composition which will set the dancefloor firmly in motion inside the dark confines of a club.

To back up the original, UK brotherly duo Arkham Knights are recruited, and their infectious combination of tech and trance come to the fore again, taking Pushing Up to the peak festival ambiance.

With both versions receiving extensive support from label owner Markus Schulz, Pushing Up will possess a broad appeal with the mixes on offer. Whatever choice you make, it's one that will do the business.

My remix for Nico Parisi's  new track, Attica, out now on Bonzai Progressive:
Super talented progressive guru Gai Barone steps up to the remix plate with his Blue Notes Remix. Once again we are witness to the sheer quality this guy continues to offer. His last outing on Bonzai was on our Bonzai & Friends - 500 - Remixes release, which to our delight has performed very well indeed thanks to artists like Gai. Much revered among his peers this guy toils hard bringing us only the very best sounds and no doubt he will be back to Bonzai at some point in the future, all we can say is, he's always welcome. The remix turns up the heat a little and gets right into a fine flowing progressive slice from the outset. Tight drums and percussions deliver a cool rhythmic flow as deep basses fade in. In the background a static arp pays homage to the original while a much grittier bass starts to creep in. At the midway point the sound dynamic shifts to include a stunning sequence filled with mismatched keys that send out an almost chaotic vibe while retaining the progressive groove. A stunner for sure, this one is a definite must have.

Mark Greene's last remix for Techburst was a top notch cut of prime techno audio-beef! So tasty that enlisting the talented Irishman for a full EP has been a top priority of ours - and the wait is now over! The nastiness of 'We're Not Leaving' is apparent from the offset. With a gut-wrenching kick & sub-bass combo, the track clears the path like a tsunami of beats and techy percussion - but it's when the evil stabs raise their ugly heads in the break and carry over into the drop, that the true power of this track is unleashed - HUGE! Track #2 comes in the shape of 'Blindside' and is more of a tribal and groove-lead animal. Less-is-more here as the awesome simplicity of Mark's bass-driven drops makes this one colossal debut EP! Techburst introduces another star into it's halls of techno fame.

DJ Jhonny Vergel - Sovereign [OUT NOW]

We are all on a journey in life. We are constantly seeking our purpose and a vision for our own future. Though our path may wind in ways we never expected to take us to places we never imagined, we should always be placing one foot in front of the other. But, to some, living life on an unknown path can be daunting and overwhelming. Sometimes we find ourselves looking at others without understanding why they are headed in certain directions. “That’s not the path I would have chosen,” we may mumble to ourselves. The only reply to this is simple; “You Have To Understand”. Argentinian artist Sonabit’s first release with Slideways aptly named ’You Have To Understand’ comes from this very place.

The brilliantly dark and twisted Original Mix layers haunting abstract synth lines and melodies on top of a deep and gritty moving bass line. From the first beat, this song captivates the listener into a bouncing hypnosis while a menacing vocal line repeats the title of the track. The song climaxes into a mind-melting break where the sounds swirl and speed up through, what feels like, a new dimension, which then drops back into a steady, chugging bass and groove. Sonabit has definitely brought his A-Game to the table on this one.

For the first remix of this EP we bring back Slideways favourite, Solid Stone, who continues on the same dark vibe with his signature liquid-bass vibe. He expertly draws us in with subtle transition builds and effects that lead us into massive drops without effort. His style is a perfect compliment to the original with chunky tech-house percussion and a thumpy, deep kick. Solid Stone definitely did it again and we’re happy to have him back on Slideways.

Our second interpretation welcomes one of Mexico’s fastest rising artists, Alejandro Manso, whose style has matured so much in the last year that we simply needed to have him on board. Alejandro goes deeper into the shadows with a huge kick and rolling bass while psychedelic delays and reverb cast over the lead stabs and synths. An incredibly trippy vocal pans left to right as he brings us deeper into the song where we're lured into a final break filled with highly effected synths that playfully dance over the silence... and then a deep thump approaches from the distance and a simple kick brings back from the trance and back to his rolling bass. Incredible work by Alejandro.

We couldn’t be more proud to have these three incredible artists on our next release. Each takes the listener on such a powerful journey through dark shadows and melodies as we continue on our paths. If you’ve ever been on this type of path before, you know that sometimes it can feel a bit overwhelming. But, it’s uniquely your path to choose. Others may not get it, but hey… only ‘You Have To Understand’.
