JD ZAZIE is an experimental DJ, avant-turntablist and sound artist.  Coming from a DJ and radiophonic background JD Zazie has explored over the years different approaches of real-time manipulation on fixed recorded sound sources.  Her live and recorded output works to redefine DJ and electroacoustic activities. As a solo performer, in small groups or large ensembles she moves in an area which is constantly stretching the borders of what is supposed to be DJ mixing, free improvisation and composed music.
She is a member of the Italian label Burp Enterprise and broadcasts monthly on Colaboradio and Reboot.fm.

JD Zazie and Peter Cusack both play field recordings in ‘live’ performances and music. We are interested that the recordings remain in their original form without too much change. When recognisable they tell their own stories and narratives but, in combinations and juxtapositions, they can be very playful and surprising. By their nature field recordings have much spatiality and depth. They are very effective at creating vivid images in a listeners’ imagination. This comes out very strongly in the duo’s performance and is part of their interested in choosing recordings played. They wish to give the impression of spaces between music, storytelling and sonic film making.
