Summer Sol IX, our annual melodies of the sun, will be released on the summer solstice. 

A diverse cultural collection of 25 original songs, highlighting a kaleidoscope of international talent and global instruments,
the 9th edition of Summer Sol features artists from over 17 different countries. 

Alongside many frequent label favorites, such as Sabo, Derun, Guy Maayan, and Desert Dwellers, we are thrilled to introduce several emerging talents, joining the Sol Selectas family for the first time.

Embark on a sonic odyssey as modern dance grooves intertwine with chill-out rhythms, and ethereal melodies, paying homage to our ancestral roots, and drawing inspiration from traditional folkloric sounds found in cultures worldwide.

The cover art by Helia Jamali takes us to a paradise beach escape where the sun warms up every cell of your being, and the ancient sand grains hold the secret sounds of the universe.

Sol Selectas Records specializes in deep tribal dance music, mixing folkloric sounds and ancient rhythms with modern electronic grooves. "To define the future, one must study the past"

Jai's love affair with electronic dance music began in 1997 when he stumbled across techno, trance, and the Melbourne underground rave scene. After purchasing his first pair of Technics SL1200 turntables the DJ spark was ignited and there was no turning back.  

Over the last two decades Jai has organised a number of underground club and rave events across Melbourne, as well as performing across South and North America, Asia, and beyond. His personal highlights include performing at Burning Man and The Rainbow Serpent Festival. 

Always seeking balance, Jai has firmly established himself within the ecstatic dance community in Australia, splitting his love for house and rave inspired techno with deeper, organic, tribal, and ethno sounds. 

Recently Jai has been based in South East Asia, and has been enjoying sharing his gifts with the vibrant EDM scene of Thailand. This has included guest club spots in Chiang Mai (RedCNX) as well as Ecstatic Dance sets in Pai (Dreamscape) and festival performances at The Great Gathering. 

As a self-described 'sonic shaman', Jai's dj sets are always a meticulous journey, crafted and curated to uplift, inspire and transform. He truly embodies the rich and deep history of underground electronica, keeping its spirit alive and burning brightly well into the future.

Sabo’s music is a journey into sound, a sonic landscape that crosses several musical borders with mixtures of tropical poly-rhythms, warm bass frequencies, rich percussion, lush tribal vocals, and smooth organic textures. When listening you will undoubtedly find yourself resonating with his intention, imagining yourself dancing in an Amazon rainforest, on a moonlit Tropical beach,  or on a desert plane for a Saharan sunrise. Behind the decks, his innovative approach to each DJ set makes him a consistent stand out at festivals like Burning Man, Coachella, Lightening in a Bottle, Shambhala, Fusion, Symbiosis, and Further Future. He is also the label boss of “Sol*Selectas Records” which is successfully re-defining a new vein of dance music. It was the Top 10 Best Selling Deep House label on Beatport in 2016 and 2017, several #1 release in 2018 til present, and with every release breaking into the Top 10 charts of their respective genres. The label captures a wide array of sounds, drawing influence from our native roots,  and combining these traditional styles with the modern sounds of electronic music. With a stellar roster of underground DJs and producers  from all over the globe, Sol Selectas deep tribal sound is guiding its listeners into the future realm with positive intention.

Otorongo is the Quechua word for Jaguar, Curinahuel is the same in Mapudungu.

Otorongo is a music selector originally from Chile, currently based in Meanjin (Brisbane). His sets are meticulously curated to take audiences on a journey. Some times it might be a pleasant walk through mountain rainforest, tropical floodplains, or wherever your imagination feels the most comfortable. Other times a deep dive into the realm of the spirits, where light and darkness get confounded. 

Otorongo's sets are percussive, with exotic instruments and vocals, usually filled with nature samples, and always driven by ancient rhythms, carefully blended to ensure you feel free to dance. 

Expect from ethnic downtempo and folktronica to eclectic Afrofuturism, passing through deep tech.

He is co-founder and curator of ISU TAKI (@isu-taki), a collective that organises parties to promote emerging beats from Abya Yala (aka Latin America) and beyond.
