'Spirit Allies', the newest offering from multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Heather Christie. The music is an exploration of about the forces in your life, both seen and unseen, that support you. These are the forces that have your back through your darkest nights and your richest light filled hours. These allies may find expression through your ancestors or through magick made manifest in your life. They may manifest through your devotion and faith or through your reverence for the earth and the plants and animals that constitute it's environment. You may feel the support of these spirit allies through a cause you believe in deeply or through the devas and gods that sit at the gateway between realms.  

It’s likely you don’t understand the exact nature of these forces but instead intuit their presence indirectly. There is always something present which pulls from your depths like a sinewy fabric that wraps around the core of you, guiding you forward to achieve your goals and dreams. Maybe these spirit allies manifest as a whisper in your ear when you know you are moving in the right direction. How do you identify with your spirit allies?

This musical journey is an invitation to open to the influence of these spirit allies so that they may offer support to you for your mission here on earth.

Musically, I wanted to do something I've never done. I wanted to push into realms of eclecticism with sound that were fresh to me. That's how 'Spirit Allies' came to be. I featured sounds of my friends playing instruments from around the world - namely Evan Fraser on African bass ngoni and the middle eastern Ney flute (Bangles), Vir McCoy on the Turkish cümbüs (Passiflora), and my own Spanish vocals, which is a language I've spoken and loved since age 13. Adding the mystical vocals of Matia Kalli in Passiflora was a deep treat, and getting to re-imagine the sounds of the timeless world beat band Hamsa Lila was an honor (Sudan Remix). I also wanted to create a collaborative feel, so having the remixes from Mushina, Akriza, and MOONTIDE were amazing. I hope you enjoy the eclectic soul of 'Spirit Allies'.

Head Light (1996), the band's third album, remained heavily rhythmic but more ethnoambient. Produced by Simon Tassano, the album has, notes music critic Bryan Reesman, "an equally dense and spacious feel, creating a clear mix".[7] Writer Sam Prestianni observes that the album's "digital aura remarkably marries the indigenous instrumentation with a rare naturalness" and that it "resonates with the full flame of world-derived trance power".[14] The album was nominated for "Outstanding World Beat Album" at the 20th annual Bay Area Music Awards.[15] Busy with other projects and unable to tour, Loose and Newby left the band towards the end of 1996. Newby left the United States for Canada while Loose returned to working full-time for Dolby Labs.[16]
