All tracks are produced especially and exclusively for this compilation and combine the artists’ own interpretation of carnival with their respective trademark grooves. Electronic music pioneers Slam return to their home base of Soma with their brand new album, Reverse Proceed.
After tireless months in the studio, the Glaswegian duo are ready to unleash what is easily their best body of work to date. Not only does this album capture where the two are at musically at the moment but is an extension of their unending fascination with all things Electronic. Lending their 22 years of experience to this new project, Slam have delved into the past for inspiration whilst simultaneously heralding future technologies in the production process. Conceptually, Slam wanted to have the human experience in mind when recording and to base the architecture of the album around ‘the sequence’. This led them to a locally built hardware sequencer called the ‘Sequentix Cirklon’ that became the heart of the album. Allowing them to access older machines and also a modern modular synth setup simultaneously, Stuart & Orde merged live manipulation and recording techniques to full potential to bring a soul to the album.
Reverse Proceed is more than an album; it is a well-defined experience built on the principle of the sequence. Having been meticulously woven together to create a seamless listening environment, Reverse Proceed aims to capture the audience and guide them through the sonic landscape of the album. This method allowed Slam to fully explore the concept of the album
being more than just a collection of tracks but rather a thoroughly immersible piece.
With this concept in mind, the album's opening drifts in over the course of several tracks as the malevolent Tokyo Subway opens what is the ambient first third of the album. Tension is built through sweeping pads and dubbed out synths leading perfectly into the more delicate Visual Capture where a sea of field recorded rain splashes over subtle bell tones and dream-state strings. Title track Reverse Proceed begins with intensity as pulsing sub bass fills the void with yet more time induced percussive fluctuations though synthesis, the haunting pads giving more depth to this deep, evolving track. The hardware at the center of the album takes hold now as Cirklon Bells brings a slight edge of melancholy to proceedings. It's natural hang-drum- esq sounds permeate as various layers are perfectly sequenced, breathing life into the track with each touch.
Heavenly pads bring Synchronicity into existence as we hear the first semblance of a 4/4 make its way out of the depths of the ambience. Stuttered percussion and fast paced, filtered synthetic tones give an almost unnatural rhythm whilst holding momentum firmly. A definite step up begins here as Ghosts Of Detroit stamps that typical Slam sound on the album. This ode to the motor city see an almighty melodic upheaval as tones begin to form complete harmonious coexistence and the album sees the shift onto a more dance floor orientated state of being, complete with blueprint style kick- sub bass conformity.
The ethereal interlude of Relevant Question proves to be little rest bite as Pattern A3 stomps in with flourishing modular based sequential tones and sparse, kicking 909 drums, the albums defining heads down Techno moment. Tweeked out, delayed and cerebral, Factory Music continues on perfectly as yet more off kilter sequences makes heads spin with it's subtle use of FX and crisp percussion. The wail of Convolute keeps things in check as discord swells enough to keep you ready for the solid and hypnotic Catacoustics. Dark and brooding it sets the tone for Irritant with its broken beat and roomy percussion riding spaced out, otherworldly forces. The easily recognisable Rotary helps see the album out with it's elastic synths and driving rhythms showing Slam's credentials as straight up dance floor killers. As we finally wind down from the journey we are brought into great depths with the sublime Resolved. A fitting title to end to what is the climax of this multi-faceted album.
Slam have always brought new meaning to the world of techno and electronic music over the years and have been instrumental in some of its defining moments over their careers. Modern Techno albums come and go but with a clear vision of what they wanted to bring to the table, the dynamic duo of Stuart McMillan & Orde Meikle have once again raised the bar for the world of techno.

Soma welcome Ilario Alicante into the fold as he makes a welcome addition to the roster with his No End EP. Ilario has quickly risen though the ranks of the Techno elite and has crafted a well defined sound and his premier Soma release showcases a tougher, more jacking side to his productions. 

Title track No End wastes no time kicking things off as pure, unadulterated drums whip things into a frenzy before a simple, hypnotic organ leads things beautifully.

Atoll is a straight up powerhouse. A perfectly laid out DJ tool, banging beats and direct programming leave you with one nailer of a track.

On the next instalment of the Paragraph series, 8-Sided Dice label boss and Drumcode staple - Alan Fitzpatrick, joins  Soma new blood, Harvey McKay on the slab. Keep an eye open for up & coming remixes on Paragraph from the likes of Adam Beyer & Jesper Dahlback, Len Faki, Gel Abril and Julien Chaptal.
 
Following on from Berlin’s most notorious tag-team, Pan-Pot on PARA006 is not an easy game – but both Fitzpatrick and McKay excel in their respective remixes, pushing their own brand of UK techno on this powerful release. Dark, jacking and effective – these tracks will destroy. 

Harvey McKay’s dark and menacing cast of Techno has been gaining many followers in the last year and City Destroyer, doesn’t stray from this standard. Stepping things up a gear, he combines crisp hi-hats with ripping sub-bass and the haunting pads from the original. Toward the latter half of the remix, Harvey brings in a dissonant synth, adding a feeling of uneasiness and weirdness to a storming remix.

These both follow on from the huge successes of Slam’s Heart of the Soul & Collecting Data [PARA005], which pulled in support Anja Schneider , Josh Wink, Oxia, Steve Bug, Stacey Pullen, Laurent Garnier, Luke Slater, Joris Voorn +++++ & also Pan-Pot’s two epic remixes of the Room 2.

Slam continue their assault on 2018 with this, already their 3rd release of 2018, the Blue Dragon EP. Drawing on various aspects of Techno, the duo once again deliver on quality with 4 tracks that seek to further develop their sound.

Mistral sets an almost industrial tone to the new EP, a short yet sweet EP opener, its broken beats and syncopated percussion prepare you for the onslaught to come. Title track Blue Dragon picks up the pace with Slam unleashing the acid at a furious tempo, held together with that clinical Slam style. Chimera keeps the intensity at boiling point as unrelenting drums surge forward - creating a powerful and forceful track. The more hypnotic Process closes out the EP but still has the pair firing on all cylinders as regimented and energetic percussive elements drive home a pulsating synth hook.

Mark Houle, Joe Starwarz & E.B.E take Vector Lovers track Computrfnk in new and different directions with these remixes. 

Starwarz brings an intricate approach, winding up through beat changes and gradually circling as he imposes a bass driven organic style. There is a prominent physical element to the reworking with the low-end rumblings carrying the track on a booming foundation. Each drop doesn’t wholly redirect but rather adds another layer to the build. The track picks up pace on the waves of these drops with the well positioned beats affording an enticing sound. This is an interesting direction enabling intricacy and a cerebral engagement within the comforting sea of bass.

Mark Houle brings a much more immediate and imposing style from the onset of his remix with a dense and full sound thrusting the track forward. The other sonic elements throw more and more onto the recurring rhythms and provide deep drops, which develop new avenues for the pumping track. The layers add to this bombastic output and create a more easily identifiable techno sound, perfect for playing out and keeping rhythm and movement at the forefront. 

The E.B.E version rounds off this remix EP in a much more progressive yet still hard hitting way. Vocoder vocals ride through the track populated with an almost Balearic synth line that adds to the deeper side of this EP. 

These unique remixes transport the senses and by different methods provide engrossing and dynamic music that is full of personality.

Here at Lucidflow we have our sights firmly set on enduring this bizarre solid white rain that keeps falling from the sky, and getting through the part of the year where we don't have to walk around a radiator strapped to our chests. With this in mind, we decorated the Agile-Mastering.com studio with sand, palm trees, pictures of pure blue skies and locked Nadja in---with a years supply of coconuts---until she emerged with another entry in the Lucid Moments series.

Just close your eyes to the opening hip hop strains of Gene Farris and feel the thaw kick in. From there we journey through the most seductive aquatic grooves, lapping against your eardrums like waves up the shore. Serene moments from Lulu Rouge, Hatikvah, Charles Webster's take on Bliss' Wish U Were Here and Nadja's own meditative series carry you gently into your own lucid moment.

Once you are caught up in the rhythmic churn, the mix current starts to pick up momentum as we skip through some Lucidflow favourites from Helmut Ebritsch, Klartraum and Aka Aka, but never losing the mellow groove signifies this compilation.

We even have room to stick in some ambient moments from Scottish heavyweights Slam and the outstanding masters of atmospheric electronica, The Black Dog. Quality pedigree.
