Marcal is back for round two on Dustin Zahn’s Enemy Records with “Cyber Dystopia.” Marcal’s trademark grooves and clever vocal processing make this one of his most exciting and hypnotic records yet. It’s pure class…there isn’t much else to say!

BUT we have to try anyway…
“Cyber Dystopia” starts off with Bionic Jungle, a trippy peak time roller sprinkled with uh, lifeforms or something? We haven’t been able to identify them, which is just proof that Marcal is living on another planet we haven’t been to yet. We’re standing by for the invite.

Moravex’s Paradox picks up where Bionic Jungle left off…chugging along in his signature style. It’s loopy. It’s tooly…but still heavy on the grooves, making it a perfect fit in deep and peak time sets alike.

Nothing About the United States hits a little harder and darker. Dissonant drones and catchy sound design take over, flipping the switch from “party” to “punish.” For fans of his recent track on Enemy, “Never Wrote This.”

Don’t Fear the Three is a classic Marcal percussive workout in heads-down mode. It’s as equally powerful as every other track on the record.

“Cyber Dystopia” is all about the world we are living in right now: artificial intelligence, smart houses, smartphones, self-driving cars, deepfakes, fake news, cybernetic warfare, metaverse, social networks, the internet of things, machine learning, virtual reality...
We are definitely entering a new stage of civilization, the post-modern era.
But,
Are we living an 'apocalypse of self-abdication' already? Or we are, as humans, simply evolving as technology evolves? There will ever be a limit to technology? Will it help as much it can also destruct?

We will find out soon.

The master of dynamic modular synthesis returns strongly to Polegroup and with nothing less than a complete album under his belt. Alberto Pascual defines with his alter ego Ribé what contemporary techno should be, direct, precise, aggressive and mental all in one.
 
In these twelve cuts that make up his new album, the producer based in the mountains of Madrid puts into operation all his knowledge of electronic machinery to develop a discourse that bears his own signature and places him among the greatest exponents of peninsular techno at the moment.
 
Unlike previous works, this time we can perceive greater harmonic and emotional content in his productions, as can be heard in the first of the album´s songs, which also gives the title to the double vinyl. Here the floating synthetic strings are combined with rhythms borrowed from the motor city in an exquisite way.

For ASC004, we are thrilled to welcome Dench onto the Ascension imprint with the ‘Psykosocial EP’. 
This EP is packed with 4 hard-hitting, dark, industrial techno heaters featuring both halves of Ascension, George NB & Jim Brown, on the latter half of the EP.

The first track, ‘Psykosocial,’ kicks this EP off with a real bang. 
Thumping low end is overlain with patterns of tight percussion, alongside haunting atmospherics. 
Upon listening you’ll realise why this had to be the title track – crazy stuff from Dench showing us what he’s all about. 
Next up is ‘Ignoble’. ‘Ignoble’ is one of those tracks with an infectious groove – the bassline rolls flawlessly under tidy kicks and breaks chopped in throughout. 
Don’t be fooled though – this track isn’t just about groove. 
It’s packed to the brim with properly spooky SFX and vox, and is not for the faint-hearted. 
Next is ‘Clutter’, a collaboration with Ascension head honcho George NB. 
This track is all about minimalism and stripping techno down to it’s essentials – A deep kick rumble, a thumping 4x4, percs for groove, and crispy tops. 
This is one of those tracks that rolls effortlessly and is a must for your USB. 
Last but certainly not least is Jim Brown’s remix of ‘Ignoble’. 
Jim takes the bpm’s down on this flip – expect flawless synth work and tight drums, layered with atmospherics to make your head spin. 
Upon listening, you instantly know this is a track from Jim – a real unique sound that can’t be found elsewhere.

Teo has been a joy to work with on this release and a real class act – we’ll be watching eagerly to see what he brings to the table for years to come!
