Mr. Oscar Mulero returns to Token in good company. At the beginning of 2013 he formed the ‘Spherical Coordinates’ project with Christian Wünsch.
After 2 widely acclaimed EP’s on Mulero’s Pole imprint, they now land on Token, with the ‘Vector Projection EP’, a new impressive 4-tracker.

Mulero & Wünsch join software and hardware to create a stellar EP that explores the deeper side of techno, on ‘SCFLS-05’ & ‘SCFLS-11’, but also hits back hard on the rolling ‘SCFLS-12’ & brutal ‘SCFLS-17’.

Space is the place.

Soma welcome back Heron but this time he has brought a friend in the form of collaborator and son of legendary Detroit producer Kevin Saunderson, Dantiez Saunderson. About 8 months ago, Martin and Dantiez decided to join forces, combining  high energy percussion with Detroit influenced melodies not really knowing what would come out in the end what came to light was the Option X EP. A melodic techno oriented EP with loads of soul and feeling.
Anthem starts off the EP on a proper funked out trip. Simple and effective drums set the pace of this track as slowly opened synths stabs give rise to an old school riff. This track perfectly straddles the boundaries of deep melodic techno and the more jacking edge of Detroit.
Title track Option X takes things even deeper into the Detroit heritage brought to the table by Heron & Dantiez. A simple piano riff is given depth by a full-bodied bass line, sparked off with body shaking congas and percussion. A definite nod to both producers respect of the Detroit sound.
Feeling Love rounds off the EP in a more House orientated sound almost reminiscent of early E-Dancer productions. Another simple and effect drum program is back with a evolving bass line and space like background FX. A well-used and processed vocal sample cuts in, giving that Neo-Detroit sound while smooth pads ease the transition into the body of the track.
Heron & Dantiez bring a fantastic collaboration together on Soma that clearly harks back to a love of that old school Detroit vibe.

Episode 3 of SomaTV sees us welcome Glasgow based producer/DJ and latest Soma signing Secluded (aka Hans Bouffmyhre) for a live 2 hour set.

The young producer has been one of Scotland's finest Techno exports over the last few years as his own Sleaze label has gone from strength to strength and seeing his perform to huge crowd throughout Europe. Sleaze has carved quite the name for itself as Hans' own productions and those from his contemporaries have found their way into the bags of most of Techno's elite. In 2013 Soma signed up Hans for a series of release under his Secluded alias. Born with the aim to explore a new techno vibe, inspired by sounds from Berlin & Detroit. Secluded's productions are characterised with a deep pounding beat, softened by dubby synth passages and deep soundscapes, creating a gloomy atmosphere. He has since released two fantastic EPs on Soma, 'Mercy' (inc remixes from Dutch producer ROD) and more recently 'Suffering' which has been getting some fantastic support throughout the Techno community.

Mark Henning makes a welcome return to Soma with yet more jaw dropping tracks with the Blackout EP. Going back to his analogue roots, Mark has crafted two tough floor burners laden with his signature funked up basslines and crafty drum programming.

Title track Blackout rocks in with melted vocal samples over that ominous 909 kick, building slowly with a lush pad, the perfect intro to what will follow…Mark brings a perfectly sequenced bassline that growls yet remains as funky as can be. Layers of hi hats work their way as the bassline mutates in the background. Mark keeps this this track deep as the pad once again glides in giving a bit of Motor City feel. This is real machine funk.

On Jack & Jill Henning keeps it stripped back but no less driving. This is a full on analogue monster. A melodic synth line backed by straight up 909 drums work this track into a frenzy with complete ease. With the mere opening of filters and simplistic use of the revered drum machine Mark has built a track that will whip any dance floor up.

A firm favourite at Soma, Mark always delivers the good and with this EP of machine fuelled techno he looks to set Techno alight with his unique and quirky production.

As we build toward the release of Lewis’ debut album on Soma, we drop a hard-hitting first single in Binary. Stripped and heavy Lewis really shows us what his productions are made of. We also welcome Spanish Techno legend Oscar Mulero as he delivers a rasping remix of Binary. This release is not for the fain of heart.

Oscar Mulero’s remix opens the EP. Oscar hardens up the track even more and takes the main synth elements giving them more space and really working them. He strips the track back more but without losing any of the pure grit that this track is made of. Hypnotic rhythms bounce of each other culminating in one almighty drop. Oscar has really layered this perfectly and given this is own unique take.

The original of Binary pops up on the flip with deep, thudding drums and a killer synth hook that pings through as shattering hi hats disturb the peace and help to build the track slowly. Lewis creates great rhythm through the use of the percussive elements of the synth stabs, opening filters and bending LFOs to build the tension. 

We await Lewis’ debut, The Gare Album, with bated breath…

Soma present a exclusive set of remixes taken from the debut album of the still unknown duo, Gemini Voice Archive. The pair have had an incredible journey so far on Soma with huge support across the techno world, made up of DJs & fans alike. The remix EP sees Slam, Inigo Kennedy & Matrixxman select their favourites from the album and give them their own interpretation.

Slam are up first with the space age Framauro’s Plains. The Soma label heads quickly and expertly delve head first with a fairly intense remix utilising the original’s hook but with more aggression. The maestro, Inigo Kennedy serves up a unique and almost Orchestral version of Singularity. He carves up the original beautifully adding finely tuned soundscapes. Closing out the EP is a more downbeat and dubbed out remix from Matrixxmann. His version of Significant Proportion of The Speed Of Light is a more subtle & atmospheric affair - typical of his style. 

There’s plenty more to come from the GVA boys with 2 more singles slated for 2018. Watch this space.

After 3 hugely successful singles, veteran Spanish producer, Tensal will deliver his first full length later this year on Soma. As we build toward this momentous occasion, four hard hitting and idiosyncratic tracks come courtesy of Tensal as he drops The Judgment EP.

Marenga opens the EP in perfect Tensal style. A unique and well constructed sequence sits atop pervasive kicks, utilising subtle vocals and layered percussion to work the groove. 1 9 9 4 O N harks to tougher times with huge broken kick patterns, twisted synths elements and a darker vibe throughout. Things get deeper and more tripped out with Fano. Here, a more hypnotised & narcotic feeling is in effect with percussive and synth elements washing in and out of the mix whilst still retaining a solid drive. Delafix closes out the EP bringing together Tensal’s creative range under one track. The hypnotic tripped out vibe is prevalent throughout as vigorous drum workouts keep things at a fairly fast pace. 

Tensal in undeniably one of modern Techno’s most well respected and innovative producers and one that continues to add to his already prodigious catalogue.

The latest release of Donato Dozzy and Neel's collaboration project "Voices From The Lake" received excellent reviews, and we were there in 2011 to feel it by ourselves at Labyrinth. It was one of the best live ever.

Voices From The Lake has finished their US tour in July 2012, and Neel is about to start his Asia tour in September. The first gig at Smoke Machine with an exclusive all-night-long set, we are very excited seeing his DJ set in Taipei.

Thanks to Neel for spending much time to create this mix, and it is a pleasure to host it on Smoke Machine. Enjoy!
