Soma25 continues as we bring you a quite unique remix package this time featuring Architectural, Luke Slater & Scuba. 

Funk D'Void's 'Magnolia', originally appearing on his 2001 album 'Dos' is re-created by the bold and dynamic sound of Architectural. UK Techno veteran, Luke Slater, turns his expect hand to Slam' Visual Capture - taken from 2014's eclectic LP, Reverse Proceed. Finally, Scuba delivers his take on the Universal Principles hit, 'Flyin' High'

Luigi Tozzi - Dryad

Jel Ford kicks off his return EP with two tracks of clean big room techno. The title track ‘Backyard’ is a moody affair with a low drone throughout that is complimented with layered synth stabs. Using reverb to create atmosphere within the track it subtly breaks down before a vocal hook transcends the track to deliver a killer blow. ‘Meeting of Minds’ is dubbier and uses a tripped out synth to add rhythm whilst working alongside a synth pattern to keep the track chugging along. The slow evolving pads add texture and keep the track nicely filled out whilst this timeless classic keeps on giving.

Alan Fitzpatrick is back with a three-track EP that encapsulates what Alan’s Drumcode sound is all about. Hard-hitting drums that fire down onto the dance floor like cannon balls. Check! Intense key patterns that are as twisted as they are uplifting. Check! Beautiful melodies that seamlessly interlock with each element. Check! Big-sounding, infectious grooves and killer hooks generously sprinkled with the infamous Fitzpatrick magic over the top. CHECK! In short, this EP is everything we have come to expect from Alan over his long history with Drumcode (this is his 10th EP as a solo artist!), but still his sound remains fresh and super-charged for 2014.

New shapes and forms seem to be rising from the surface of The Gods Planet. They are the dark, angular and yet enticing creations from the minds of TGP founder Claudio PRC and ascending talent UNC, and they represent the debut of a promising collaboration between the two techno explorers. Claudio PRC, despite his still young age, is already an established name in the scene, after several releases on Prologue which helped define the modern hypnotic techno sound, now extending his singular vision to labels like Trolldans, Semantica and Outis along with TGP founder Ness. As for UNC, an italian like Claudio, the alias represents the more dancefloororiented expression of someone who´s already been turning a few heads as Dubit, owner of Berlinbased label Several Reasons, who, amongst others, recently released the intimate and adventurous album and visual project, “Fragmenti”. 

The two tracks in this release are formally explicit in their intentions : Claudio PRC and UNC are
in exploratory mood and they sound hungry in staking their territory clearly, but the rhythmic thrust of the compositions is as important as creating context. MDCCXVIII sets off from a bed of sound effects, drones and electro acoustic flourishes which could be a track in itself, before a progressively more ferocious broken rhythm, almost tribal in nature, and a frantic staccato bass seem to raise us from the surface where we started and hurl us across the air into a full flight punctuated by dramatic quasiorchestral stabs. The track creates a veritable vortex before settling us down again on land, yet in unknown territory. MDXLIV constitutes the 2nd half of the EP and the offbeat rhythmical patterns are present again yet in a more domineering position, this time pierced by nocturnal pads, the buzzing sound of frying circuits and urgent clanging percussion, lending the track an industrialized vibe, like a onceperfect machine in a state of distress. 

All in all, this release shows new facets of both it´s creators and raises intriguing questions. Claudio PRC and UNC are defying the listener as much as defying and questioning themselves. In pure sonic terms, these tracks transport you into a futuristic setting, but they seem to warn us of the dark side of progress. In any case, both producers seem more than willing to be a guiding light for the listener, into that obscure yet strangely compelling unknown. If this release is any indication, the voyage to get there will be a fascinating one.

The Drumcode A-Sides compilation is quickly becoming synonymous within the techno world as a go to compilation for the hottest tracks that are deservedly A-side material in their own right. Each specific track has it own unique character that brings an outstanding and electrifying aspect to the compilation that as a whole makes it something extremely special. Mixing both highly experienced and new artists has helped to bring a new dimension to the compilation that makes it such a special array of tracks.

Alan Fitzpatrick makes a triumphant return to the scene-leading imprint this August. The typically bombastic three-tracker of explosive, crowd-moving techno opens with ‘Love Siren’ packed with all the power and punch required to knock over festival crowds as it systematically builds and drops, this is one for the big open air stages. ‘U Said U’ is a massively hyped track that has been the subject of huge fan-demand since it first featured on Beyer’s Drumcode Radio in January. ‘Rumours’ wraps things up in slightly more understated but non-the-less effective fashion with its drawn out, tension building intro mushrooming into a crescendo of sleazy chords and sparking melodies.

The music of Darren Roberts has asserted it ́s uniqueness within his preferred form of ￼expression, rolling and tunneling techno, strong on propulsion and atmosphere.

What stands out from his production and performance is that Deepbass creates something identifiably his own, but refuses to ever be limited by it or to get comfortable repeating just
one thing. Instead, he takes what ́s already his own and streamlines it, sharpens it and nuances it. The origin and destination of this bullet train might be constant, but the path it takes and how the journey feels is ever-changing.

Now the debut album from Deepbass which is going out on his Informa imprint consists of 8 tracks all in his signature sound but in a more restrained and expressive nature. A sensory journey built of entrancing melodies, fluid motions and a transcending flow which create a pure hypnotic effect. Moments of electronic tribalism consistently layered with waves of delicate sonics and textures, taking you deep into the abyss creating strong imagery in a near cinematic style.

￼The release will be available as a double 12" and digital, mastering made by Artefacts Mastering.

Apollo / R&S are proud to present a compilation album of a series of classic EPs of timeless vibes and lush percussive excursions from overlooked Japanese innovator Mr YT AKA Yuji Takenouchi.

The 'Brand New Day’, ‘Southern Paradise’ and ‘Parfum’ Eps were originally released between 1997 - 1998 on Apollo Records and R&S sub-labels Generations and Global Cuts.

Over the intervening years, the EPs' heady blend of atmospheric pressure, balmy pads and deep grooves has percolated, gathering fans across the globe, to the point where original copies are in high demand on the secondhand market.

Created in the late 90s on a hardware set up of Roland Super Jupiter, Roland JV1080, Roland D550, Yamaha TX81Z and Akai S1100, Takenouchi was burning with inspiration from the sounds of Ron Trent and Chez Damier, Basic Channel, House of 909, Ian Pooley and Carl Craig.

A video game musician by profession, Takenouchi was used to producing music for specific scenes / sequences - starting from scratch had him baffled. Deciding to set a theme or concept for each EP proved to be the breakthrough he needed, a day of new environment for 'Brand New Day’, yin and yang for  'Southern Paradise’ and imaginary fragrances for ‘Parfum'. Looking at pictures related to each of these themes helped to fuel his creativity while producing.

From the sun dappled balearic haze of opener ‘Morning’ to the blissed out bump of ‘Afternoon’, the gauzy euphoria of ‘Ocean In Heaven’ to the cosmic funk pulse of ‘Regard’, the music contained in the 'Brand New Day’ compilation remains as timely and relevant as the day it was released and should see Mr. YT appreciated alongside the likes of the US and European producers who first inspired him.

Soma present a exclusive set of remixes taken from the debut album of the still unknown duo, Gemini Voice Archive. The pair have had an incredible journey so far on Soma with huge support across the techno world, made up of DJs & fans alike. The remix EP sees Slam, Inigo Kennedy & Matrixxman select their favourites from the album and give them their own interpretation.

Slam are up first with the space age Framauro’s Plains. The Soma label heads quickly and expertly delve head first with a fairly intense remix utilising the original’s hook but with more aggression. The maestro, Inigo Kennedy serves up a unique and almost Orchestral version of Singularity. He carves up the original beautifully adding finely tuned soundscapes. Closing out the EP is a more downbeat and dubbed out remix from Matrixxmann. His version of Significant Proportion of The Speed Of Light is a more subtle & atmospheric affair - typical of his style. 

There’s plenty more to come from the GVA boys with 2 more singles slated for 2018. Watch this space.

After 3 hugely successful singles, veteran Spanish producer, Tensal will deliver his first full length later this year on Soma. As we build toward this momentous occasion, four hard hitting and idiosyncratic tracks come courtesy of Tensal as he drops The Judgment EP.

Marenga opens the EP in perfect Tensal style. A unique and well constructed sequence sits atop pervasive kicks, utilising subtle vocals and layered percussion to work the groove. 1 9 9 4 O N harks to tougher times with huge broken kick patterns, twisted synths elements and a darker vibe throughout. Things get deeper and more tripped out with Fano. Here, a more hypnotised & narcotic feeling is in effect with percussive and synth elements washing in and out of the mix whilst still retaining a solid drive. Delafix closes out the EP bringing together Tensal’s creative range under one track. The hypnotic tripped out vibe is prevalent throughout as vigorous drum workouts keep things at a fairly fast pace. 

Tensal in undeniably one of modern Techno’s most well respected and innovative producers and one that continues to add to his already prodigious catalogue.
