MM Cast 02: COYOTE

Is it Balearic? Recordings' capos Timm Sure and Ampo have been on the "Balearic Scene" even before the word "Balearic" got fashionable some years ago.  They started as djs in the early 90's becoming residents at the historical "Venus" in Nottingham, it was in 2002 when they became producers and from then on they started producing tracks under the moniker Coyote, being responsable of notorious works signed on "International Feel", "Needwant" and "Music for Dreams" to name a few, and of course on their own imprint "Is It Balearic? Recordings"

Was in 2006 when "IIB?" started and since then, and a long with the sublabels "Über" and "Magic Wand", 15 years of pure Balearic Bliss where the "brithish-downtempo-maestros" have featured artists from the likes of Max Essa, Danielle Baldelli, Dj Rocca, Bonnie & Klein, Mori Ra and Anton Klint to name a few.

2021 has been a very prolific year for Coyote, delivering an amazing EP "Return to life" and another remixes ep of their LP "Buzzard Country", both records on "Is It Balearic? Recordings". They also have been working for MM Discos doing a magical rework of Bonnie & Klein's Albatros

The contribution of the Nottingham based producers to the scene is unquestionable and crucial, being a constant influence for dj's and producers who decided to move forward with the sound that artists like Dj Alfredo, Paul Oakenfold or Jose Padilla discovered back in the days from the "white Island" to rest of the world.

When we talk about their sound, a question comes to our head,,"Is it Balearic?", of course it is, but more than this, this is COYOTE Sound!!

Und, Oh Boy, er konnte 1970 nicht wissen, dass das Internet alles auf den Kopf stellen wird. 2019 ist quasi überall Revolution- auf allen Kanälen und zu jeder Uhrzeit. Es gibt zum Thema Soundtracks und Filme, Blogs und Magazine und jede Menge Musik aus zig Jahrzehnten Popkultur, die sich mit dem Thema Rebellion und Revolution auseinandersetzen. Alex Barck von Jazzanova hat sich diesem Thema im vorliegenden Mix ausführlich gewidmet- und zeigt damit, dass er ein musikalischer “Hans Dampf in allen Gassen” ist. Wir wollen nicht zu viel verraten, vorab nur dies: Was für ein Tape!

I made this mix right after Navid passed last year.  It helped me get through the initial shock and pain to listen to all his music and be reminded that he was so talented and his music so unique and diverse. It was amazing to go back though it all and think about the memories of hearing it for the first time and sharing it with him. But then it got really hard to hear his voice, it just hurt too much...

The last few months I've come back to playing his music in my sets and feeling positive that he will live on forever through his music. A year on from his passing I feel like it's time to share this mix with the world. I hope it helps all of us remember Navid and celebrate his life...
