The brothers Nikolaj & Mikkel Hess have shared 40 years of musical explorations. In these recordings, they’ve combined their talents and efforts as pianist Nikolaj interprets Mikkel’s Hess Is More discography. Like most other creative endeavors, this concept didn’t occur overnight, rather it’s based on tradition.

Since the first Hess Is More album was released in 2005, it’s been a recurring practice, that Nikolaj would perform “solo piano remixes” of the material live in concerts - often as opening sets before the live shows.
For about as long as the brothers have practiced this tradition, they’ve dreamt of making a full album, consisting of recording sessions on the piano. Now, almost 20 years in, the material seemed fully ripe. Therefore, Nikolaj and Mikkel have had some intense recording sessions on the beautiful Steinway C grand piano at ‘The Village Recording’ in Copenhagen. The result is playful, daring, yet at the same time mature and immaculate in its form.

Nikolaj’s deep foundation in jazz is clear from the first note, as you feel the presence and freshness of improvised music. Yet, you’ll never lose the sense of Mikkel’s strong melodic lines and clear compositions.
Their sound is in the cinematic borderland between jazz, pop, folk, and classical, these recordings can be enjoyed over and over again.
The melodies and harmonies will get you hooked, and the improvised surprises will keep you coming back. Music of the moment, shaped by the shared musical history of these two musical brothers.

A journey through Hess is More’s extensive catalogue, spanning material from all the albums. Including the international mega-hit ‘Yes Boss’, in very direct collaboration with Mikkel playing hand percussion on the piano frame, as Nikolaj takes care of the keys themselves.
And ‘Iboja’s Theme’ where the brothers perform side by side in a slow-motion four-hand recording.
Above all, you’ll hear a lot of stunning piano-playing by Nikolaj Hess. It’s in moments like these where Mikkel would sit and listen in awe as it happened – and so will you.

Now it's finally here: The debut album «Time To Recover» by Feiertag.

The Multi-faceted artist & producer has established himself as a leading name within the electronic music sphere since making his debut in 2015. He defies convention in ways many cannot, from his immersive productions on Last Night On Earth, Boogie Angst and Kitsune, to his work as a professional drummer alongside Kraak & Smaak at live events including ADE, Down The Rabbit Hole and Pitch Festival.

After two successful EPs and even more singles, Feiertag took his time for this debut album. This can be heard on each of the sixteen tracks: Extraordinary attention to detail, sophisticated arrangements and a sound aesthetic that couldn't sound more modern are probably the first impressions you take away from «Time To Recover». On second or third listen through, however, you realize that almost every one of these songs has hit potential somehow.

After the dubby head-nodding opener «Stranger To One» follows «Yearn» with Oli Hannaford from London and Tessa Rose Jackson from Amsterdam, revealing a melancholic and shimmering musical soundscape. Majestic vocals combine with lush percussive elements and smooth drums, whilst rich chords work atop of resonant strings. A song destined for eternity!

Tessa is also featured on «Follow» and «Riptide». Then there's the collaboration with GOSTO, «Stronger,» a song that gains in punch and impact with each successive listen. And with every rewind, you turn up the volume a little more. As loud as enough that you can also enjoy «It's Alright» with James Alexander Bright in its full glory and exuberant optimism. Similarly good-humored is the instrumental «Saccharine» tasting full of sweet summer, unbridled exuberance and outdoor parties. With «Panorama» Feiertag shows his calmer, more ambient side towards the end of the album to finally set an absolutely dignified closing point together with Pete Josef on «Where Are We Now».

«Time To Recover» is an almost furious ride through current musical styles and genres - all from the artful and almost grandiose orchestrated point of view of Feiertag.

For five of the sixteen songs strong singles the busy producer asked some friendly singer-songwriters to join him in his studio.
On «Follow», we can enjoy the enchanting and multifaceted voice of Tessa Rose Jackson.

A voice suiting Feiertag’s sound so magnificently you wish for an album by Feiertag featuring solely the singer, producer, film composer and artist from Amsterdam.

But for now we are looking forward to «Time To Recover» by Feiertag himself with lots of thrilling collaborations and even much more damn good music.

After the catchy pop tune «Yearn» already gave us a mesmerizing foretaste of what to expect, now we get another appetizing teaser. The instrumental single «Saccharine 374» tastes like sweet summer, like rampant friskiness and joyful parties outdoors.

The dutch producer extraordinaire Joris Feiertag used the time during lockdown in 2020 to produce enchanting, captivating music, which now finally finds an audience. Imagine a huge meadow full of partying, dancing and hugging people. «Saccharine 374» is the soundtrack to it!
